Hello Everyone,
I compiled gpicview in Puppy 2.14 and while the app opened and displayed my pictures, it kept crashing for some unknown reason.
As this is a very nice small pic viewer, could someone please compile it for the Puppy 2 series so it doesn't crash. Even use an earlier version of gpicview if need be. I know alot of us Puppy user's who still use the 2 series would enjoy this little pic app also.

Ok.MU wrote:you can look in /root/.packages/gpicviewxxx.files, that contains a list of all.
Or rename the .pet to .pet.tgz , then you can view the content in xarchive.
gpicview is installed as /usr/bin/gpicview

in
/root/.packages/
I have only two files related to gpicview: (not gpicviewxxx.files)

No Mark, I cant view with leafpad, in /root/.packages/, these two files are unpacked, with original .pet extension, it semms that unpacking is not working fot these filesMU wrote:no, not delete, they just list what was installed.
You can view them with leafpad.
I have no idea why it does not install on your system.
So you could rename to .tgz, and extract with xarchive instead.

renaming as tgz and unpacking seems works, but my question is now, other .pet package related to gpicview, gpicview_NLS-0.1.7.pet what is it?
Hi John,As this is a very nice small pic viewer, could someone please compile it for the Puppy 2 series so it doesn't crash.
I've tried compiling on pup2.16, and it seems to compile fine. Opens up fine...but crashes as soon as mouse crosses the task-bar at the bottom. I did contact the developer & he suggested a couple of fixes, but they didn't work. Surprisingly, for someone developing apps with gtk, he expressed his dislike for gtk. Anyway, it's issues seem to be gtk version related, so not being clued up on gtk progging myself, I was thinking it might compile OK in pakt/dougal's pup214r, which I think has a newer version.
puppy is better linux ie ever seen
I am absolutely dummie in compiling or programming
but it's great!
You just see an interesting app somewhere and in some days you see it ready to use
the only thing is that it is not see in menu
maybe you need to correct gpicview.desktop file
i just crab it to rox desktop to launch
