Get the easy to install package of breeezy from the SafePup site. The announcement page is here.
Thanks to pakt for barelypup, tempestuous for compiling the eee device drivers, nibl and justgreg for testing, Barry Kauler for Puppy Linux, and all FOSS enthusiasts for making Linux and FOSS possible.
Note: The microphone and web cam of the eee are not yet operational for this version of breeezy.

WPA
Thanks to responses at the eeeuser forum, now the problem is focused on getting WPA working in Puppy. I uploaded this fix:

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=13008
See also a thread on the Atheros chip:

More reading: There are two threads here in the forum discussing WPA:This WPA dotpup for the eee (click to install) will let you fix the WPA issue. It will open a readme after installing the essential files. The dotpup installer will close after you close the WPA Readme.

To make connection automatic at startup, place "wpa-connect" in /etc/rc.d/rc.local. Make sure you save at shutdown of the eee to save the new files in your SD card.

February 1, 2008 update
breeezy (Puppy Linux puplet for the eee) is now updated to February 1, 2008 version. The network wizard works with secure connections (WEP, WPA, WPA2), microphone is working, and webcam is under testing.

breeezy a sticky
Just saw that breeezy has become a sticky at the eeeuser.com forum.
It must have proven its usefulness and stability for the eeePC (at 65 MB!).
----------------------------
Note: Users of Classmate PC ( classmatePC ) will have to add only this dotpup (gunzip the attached file then click on it) to use breeezy.
Follow the wireless network activation explained by the help (tutorial), using rt73/rausb0 module instead of ath_pci/ath0. Add these lines to the beginning of /etc/rc.d/rc.local (or to your wep-connect or wpa-connect script - make sure to replace in the script all instances of ath_pci with rt73 and ath0 with rausb0):
modprobe firmware_class
modprobe rt73
Thanks, tempestuous, for the update of the rt73 drivers.
