Installed Puppy 2.14 on a Thinkpad 600 laptop last evening but the PCMCIA network card did not work, i.e. not internet access. could not find rtl8139x.ko under /lib/modules/.../net/.
Looks like need to compile kernel driver. Questions:
Is there a rtl8139x.ko in stock puppy kernel ?
where the kernel source is ?
what packages needed for kernel module building ?
Unlike xubuntu, puppy runs faster with the old dog that is Thinkpad 600.
Thanks in advance.

PCMCIA Realtek rtl8139
PCMCIA Realtek rtl8139 SOLVED
Network wizard could not auto-probe the PCMCIA network card so it asked me to "Load Driver". Yesterday I loaded every PCMCIA modules in the list thinking one of them might be compatible but none worked.
Your reply gave me a hint. today I loaded the 8139too driver and follow the instructions to setup eth0. It works.
The 8139too driver is labeled as a pci driver, not as a pcmcia driver. This threw me off.
Thanks for your help.

I run Puppylinux 215CE on an old Compaq 1237 with 90MB RAM, and
use a no name PCMCIA/Cardbus 32bit. ethernet card.
On your advice I loaded the 8319too driver, and it works !!
Great improvement in the look, same good Linux, bravo to Barry and the team.
Thanks and do as myself; donate, so the project can go on.
