Installing Wine - can't find needed libraries

#1 Post by TommyTheCat »

I've tried installing wine using this as a guideline:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 1274009524

After executing the doinst.sh I get 5 errors: can't find libwine.so, libwine.so.1, wineg++, winecpp, wineg++.1.gz

I've found libwine.so and libwine.so.1 in /usr/lib and copied them over to the /install directory and that gets rid of two errors, but I cannot find the wineg++, winecpp, wineg++.1.gz files.

Any idea where I might obtain these files? Or does anyone have any better ideas for installing wine? I've tried getting the dotpup installer, but it appears that the dotpups.de server is down or no longer working. Thank you

There is a pet package for version 0.9.49
Go into the Puppy Software Installer, choose search and look for Wine.
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

That pet package for wine will leave you with different missing dependencies. Here they are:

libgphoto2.so.2
libgphoto2_port.so.0
libesd.so.0
libldap_r-2.3.so.0

I asked WolfPup about those in his thread and haven't seen a reply.

Thanks, good to know.
I have installed (frugal) Muppy 008, which also contains Wine (0.9.48 I think)
Could see tomorrow if those are in there.

I was playing with Wine the other day, and it was asking for libesd. Then it asked for libjack.

I forgot to mention that it was also missing some GL libraries. That was remedied easily enough by installing the official Xorg Open GL pet.
