Churchpup can't find wireless or LAN cards |
|
Yes I did a d/l and run on a HP Pavilion -6609, I increased the ram
to 128Mb and run from the CD. After loading and tried some progs, it took a long, long time to get up on the screen, yes one could say it's
as slow as!
Maybe with 256/512 Mb it might hum along faster. So I don't think
I can get that extra ram at a good price. I think things might be
better if I made up the short fall with a swap part on the h/d.
To get to the other problem, this version will not detect my machine LAN card nor wireless card. I have these cards operating with other
versions of puppy. This version has the same problem in another
machine. Some thing missing here do you think!
What can I add to fix the problem?
Cheers - Tui

A swap partition should make a big difference. 128MB of RAM isn't enough room for Puppy to run from, so without a swap partition it has to run from the CD, which is awkward and slow. From my experience, Puppy needs at least 256MB of RAM to be happy.

There sure is! You omitted to mention which version of Puppy you're talking about.

Wireless and LAN cards Subject description: Can't find ! |
|
Sorry Flash,
I thought I was in Churchpup topic posting, i.e. latest
download! I downloaded last night the Lighthouse beta-5 and
this has the same problem of not finding my wireless and lan cards,
I tried and selected what is loaded in the other versions of puppy like
the version I am sending this through - v3.0
The Module r8169 Realtek RTL-8169 is what is loaded, I tried this module instruction in Churchpup and Lighthouse but both returned
a fail to load. Thus a no go!
My first action in testing any Alpha or Beta version of Puppy is to get on the net.
How do I fix the problem with CHURCHPUP and LIGHTHOUSE ?
Cheers
Tui
