xfce
The GUI is great, but it's a big change in window manager. It will take a while getting accustomed to it, but it promises to be fun.
Would you be able to pack the XFCE as a simple tar.gz, or possibly a pet? Call it NOP-xfce perhaps? This way, people can play initially with xfce then be able to handle NOP in the future.
Just my 0.0002c.

NOP and pup files
I just know you will have an answer to this! I have totally fallen in love with NOP - I like the whole idea and as a convert from WXP it suits me very well. But as it does not use ROX I guess that means I cannot use .pup files. Is that correct? If that is the case, how do I install one of the MUST HAVE applications which comes to me only as a .pup file?
I am using NOP 3.01

This is one of the things I've noticed as well. To install a dotpup run the following from the console
Code: Select all
dotpuprox.sh package.pup

Thanks for the help. I am very new to all of this. Does this mean I type in a console 'dotpuprox.sh whatever_mypackae_is_called.pup'

Scotto_puppy, just like WXP you can assign a program to open certain file types when you double click on the icon, or right click and select the "Open With" options. To do so right click on the file icon and select "Open With Other Application". Click on "use a custom command" at the bottom and in the entry field type in dotpuprox.sh and then click on the open button.
That should open the pup file AND remember it as the program to run for that file type in future.
I thought I had done that for pup files already - sigh. Sorry 'bout that.
PS if you prefer a single click mouse action use the settings manager - file manager button - behaviour tab to change from double click to open.

Single Click
Mark2 : If you mean single click on thedesktop launcher icons - no can do. I have searched for a setting to alter this and cant find one. Best you can do is add the application you want to single click into the top (hidden) panel.

Java
Hi all
Just wanted to start off by saying I have installed NOP but I am having no luck installing java in NOP. I have ether thought just overlooking it or what even in a terminal I have not been able to run jre-6u3-linux-i586.bin it tells me permission denied.
I use java for the internet and other programs and have a need for it. I would also like to make a sfs of it so as not to have to reinstall it all the time, after each upgrade.
Any and all help appreciated.
Edited
I installed gslapt and installed java that way works great if anybody wanted to know. Installed Firefox and it updated on its own and have had no problems with it. really like this puplet
