VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP - no DRI Subject description: DRI is not active
Hello,
I am new to linux and Puppy Linux. Thus far I have found Puppy Linux to be the best. But, I have a laptop with the VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP display adapter. I can't get DRI to activate.
I have Puppy Linux 2.16.
Using the 3D-Control-Center V2.00 I have installed:
1 - DRM Kernelmodules
2 - DRI-Graphics-drivers (unichrome)
3 - OpenGL
When I run the Control Center's 3D-Demo it states that DRI is not active. When I launch Google Earth it also states that I am "running Google Earth in 'OpenGL' with software emulation."
I have tried manually editing the xorg.conf file by changing the "vesa" entry to "via", but this doesn't work either.

The current Puppy versions (ever since v 2.10) have Xorg7.0, and the Unichrome 3D drivers work OK with the older Unichrome chips (CLE266 etc) but don't play well with the modern "PRO" Unichrome chips (CN700 etc).
Forum member jinxed says that Xorg needs to be upgraded -

but you could try the updated 3D files I contributed here -
