Puppy Linux, IBM Transnote Edition Subject description: Puppy Linux on the IBM Transnote |
|
I have put together a CD that I call; 'Puppy Linux 2.17.1, IBM Transnote Edition'
For thoes who don't know the IBM Transnote, please see below:
http://www.research.ibm.com/electricInk/
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:TransNote
http://transnote.info/
The tablet PC like Transnote is a portfolio computer with a touch screen computer on one side and a paper and pen digitizing unit on the other side that used a digital and ink combo writing pen. The handwritten notes can then be emailed or stored electronicaly. W2K was the original OS.
I have preinstalled on the Puppy Linux CD the following:
a working touch screen driver, a virtual touch screen keyboard application (xvkbd), a touch screen virtual loose leaf paper writing application (Jarnal) and Cute Com that communicates with the Transcribe (the digital paper/pen side). Cute Com allows the Transcibe's data to be collected and sent to another application for processing. I still need to find an application to decode the output from Cute Com into writing, but its a start.
Is there an interest in this??? Please let me know.

I have a working Puppy/Transnote 2.17.1 CD, complete with working Tablet PC applications and Transnote touchscreen drivers, etc. It runs fast and works quite well.
I think that CD duplication is not an issue. But I'll have look into how to convert it to an ISO, try to post it for download and if I can, do all of this, I will announce it to the Yahoo Transnote Group, there may be some intrest there.
It will run nice and fast totally from the CDROM or it can be installed on an IBM Transnote hard drive.

The remaster script updated by Dougal has a "simple" option that copies your current installation. Be sure to remove personal files before you remaster. Also, choose "customize for this machine".
