Set Up a USB printer with PDQ?? |
|
Is it possible to set up a usb printer using PDQ? I can't see an option anywhere for this.
Using Puppy 2.17.1

2.17 has CUPS, and gerry noted that it includes PDQ too.

Oh yes it is! Puppy 2.17 includes pdq, but, as I said, there seems to be no option for a usb printer.

gerry,
try extracting xpdq, from the attached file, & copying it to /usr/bin, and see if it works with your existing pdq.
to select usb printer, you need to go through the steps following:
Printer->add printer
however i think the stumbling block will be the selection of the driver, as it's looking for printers that can be driven with a postscript 0r ghostscript driver, not .ppd.

Thanks, Muggins. - I'll try it. The reason for this thread is that when I set up a (necessarily) non-existent printer using pdq, it does appear in the printer selection box in Abiword.
So I'm coming to the conclusion that the link from Abiword to cups is broken, although lpr is a symlink to lpr-cups.
