safepup |

The small-ish way of doing this is to get safepup (it has Flash pre-installed, see http://minipc.org/safepup ) then add Java to it (safepup will have to be installed to hard disk as Java is large).

ecopup? |

Yes, ecopup could be it, although you have to check if it is really there: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=19401
Puppy is generally built to be small, and it would easily be big if JRE is included, so what you asked for, | Quote: | | java .. preinstalled | is generally rare.

Hi
For installing JRE, try following this topic link.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=21505
It's pretty straightforward (even I got there eventually).

I have found this to work when nothing else worked. It is a script that downloads and installs jre. The version it installs is 1.5.06 (or version of similar numbers. It has worked in puppy versions 2.13, 2.14 and 2.17..thats all I have tried it on.
http://www.puppylinux.org/wikka/GuestTooJavaInstaller
Look for this line
" Note: To install the JRE try this .pup "
under:
" How To Install Java In Puppy "
You first will download a small file which will eventually download a file that expands to 104MB. I downloaded the large java file to my flash drive to a directory I called java and I can run java from there.
The computer I have run it on had 192mb and now has 256mb memory 700mhz Celeron with a 1gb flash. My other laptop has over 700mb memory 1.5ghz Pentium M

Unpacking files could involve /tmp which is in RAM, so if your RAM fills up, it will produce an error. Having swap partition will help in that case.
