For a temporary solution, you could use megaupload, like i did - its free to use and max file size is 500mb, easily big enough!

Probably wouldn't save much space, but perhaps Shard should substitute Opera for that abomination Seamonster, especially as you are including Java?

Hi Sage

I don't like Opera in Linux. I prefer Seamonkey to Firefox (more stable)
I used Opera for many years in Windows but it does not (out of the box) display wiki info right and has other nuances that are not my fav flavour.

I would like a spell checker in Seamonkey but v1.08 is very stable. It is good.
Some would prefer Flock browser [shrug]

Personally I would place Opera below Flock and Firefox as a personal preference. This does not make me a bad person. I have nothing against Opera users. Some may even be nice people. Are we able to make our personal choice? Hope so.

Shard is my personalised version of Linux Tmxxine and includes Adblock+ and Stumbleupon (which I always install). I used the Olive XP theme as default but a few button clicks and IceVista IV is available.

Also some will be dissapointed that few background images are included (in fact only the defaults) but the Shard wiki page explains how to add more. Even more personal preferences.

I always have a simple way of testing. Put Opera, Firefox, Flock and Seamonkey etc. on the system. Which do you use? I end up using Seamonkey. It is therefore right for me. It is therefore in my personalised Linux Tmxxine - Shard.

Shard only took a few hours - so using 2.17.1 or Shard as a base you could personalise 'Linux Sage' easily enough. Perhaps.

Of course! The long-running survey, however, places Opera squarely second to Firefox.

I've been trying out Opera recently in Puppy.

It's an extremely well designed and fast system with a great email client and RSS news reader.

Sadly I had to give it up and go straight back to Seamonkey though. I takes three or more page reloads to render my iGoogle personalised homepage. There is also no gpg encryption system available for it either. I'll keep an eye on it for the future though.

Current Seamonkey 1.08 crashes when Enigmail is installed as an extension. GTK library problem maybe?. Hope Barry can sort this out for Puppy 2.18.

Shard is just 2.17.1 with Ezpup + 3 of my favourite programs.
So it contains JWM but the default is Icewm which Ezpup uses.
I prefer Icewm because it is more reliable than JWM (though JWM of late has proven to be solid, I still do not trust it fully)

I tried downloading the latest Seamonkey 1.1.4 from the Mozilla webpage. Also downloaded latest Enigmail 0.95.4 from there as well.

Now everything works perfectly.

Problem is the Seamonkey 1.08 version in Puppy. A gut feeling tells me that it might be something to do with an incorrect version of GTK or a missing library. I remember a similar problem with Seamonkey crashing for this reason awhile back.

The built-in 1.08 version on this PC now crashes when trying to send any message at all, not only when the gpg key management routine is started. I don't particularly want to delete my current Seamonkey profile, because that is being accessed by the separately installed 1.1.4 version. There's no other way of directly uninstalling the offending Enigmail extension that I know of. Installing Multizilla might be some sort of work-around though - dunno. It claims to be able to disable unwanted extensions in Seamonkey. I'll give that a try and see what happens. No great hopes though.

Glad you mentioned this problem again, Tronkel,

I have too a couple of times but no indication yet whether Barry is aware of it or plans to fix it - perhaps in the process of a Seamonkey upgrade in 2.18? ;-)

I know it's not an item for most, but this is the kind of thorogoing thing that we have come to expect and appreciate in puppy. I still want to use it in business, including internet commerce - without having to reboot frequently and maintain two OSes.

Go here and install Mnenhy if you need to get rid of any misbehaving extensions in Seamonkey 1.08. It seems to work most of the time. I got rid of Enigmail this way, so now Seamonkey 1.08 is working in Puppy again without crashing

Just to recap the problem - With Enigmail (and of course Gnupg) installed, if I try to view an incoming email containing gpg encrypted material, Seamonkey 1.08 mail shuts down immediately. Or, if I even just click on Compose it shuts down. I may not have Enigmail set up correctly, but at least this shutdown problem does not occur in the newer Seamonkey version.

I had no need for Mnenhy; I just went to a backup configuration without Enigmail. Incidentally, Enigmail is the only extension I have ever tried with Seamonkey.

Ah yes I did that too (but I think with 1.1.3 and it worked OK until I somehow called the 1.08 Seamonkey on the system and they kind of mixed and both stopped working . . . so I used Firefox for a while.

My guess (hope) is that Barry will upgrade the Seamonkey version in 2.18 and allow for Enigmail in the compilation.

Yes, I have been informed that Foxfire and gmail work with gpg. My shopping cart and server, henrystrobel.com, have been working fine for years, and I would not want to mix in a new gmail account. Would be the tail wagging the dog - because of a bug ;-)
