MGFox:
Can I ask you (afgs) to make a version with the logo in monochrome without shading. I would like to see it as outline (for printing reason)
Something transparent that can be dropped on any background should be useful, like the last one on blue sky background.

this is very rough . . .
but is it possible for the Puppy to have paws perhaps holding Puppy Linux or peeping over the top? This would combine our two favourite directions . . .

more inspiration . . .

Linux Distros Images and Puppy Linux

#105 Post by yorkiesnorkie »

Hi all,

I just thought I'd take a brief look at the net and see what was out there in terms of a presence for Puppy Linux, and at the other linux logos. I just did a quick "img" google search on puppy linux. I got imgs of the desktops on page 1, the most prominent is this one

Image

I got Barry's drawn Puppy head with flower on page 2

Image

The paw print didn't appear until page 6. My personal preference would that we not use a paw for the following reason, e.g. Wolvix slogan is "get pawed", this is the paw for Wolvix Linux:

If you type in puppy and look for imgs you get puppy desktop shown above on page 5

Now, here's a few prominent linux logo imgs:

My thought is that Puppy Linux already has a fairly substantial presence using dogs faces, dogs heads, pictures of dogs, and even the pawprint. The Puppy face didn't put me off of choosing it over the other distributions. I chose it because it works! If you want to serious up the distributions the Rasterpax drawing, or variations therof would do pretty well in the above group as an official logo.

Now, don't get me wrong. I do like the puppy paw too. We could certainly use the paw on icons, menus and so on where a head wouldn't fit. However our paw should be really distinctive and totally different from the Wolvix paw. Lets be adventurous!

Flower Power Puppy

#107 Post by yorkiesnorkie »

Hi,

Here's a graphic based on Rasterpax's image. I was trying to see what I could do with the basic graphic and have a little fun at the same time. I've incorporated some of the ideas here, and the yellow flower theme! No text yet but something could be added to be sure.

you can download a larger graphic from here: http://www.puppylinux.org/user/images/p ... um/297.jpg

I like most of this except the body seems unnecessary, though the wireless
tail is a neat touch -- so the eyes, nose and mouth only plus the tail together
with the name and features work for me!

YMMV, IMHO, etc ...

Now that is a puppy - this satisfies the previous discussion about having a puppy with the logo. I hope rastapax keeps drawing with the ideas expressed here. :)

rastapax Graphic designer

#114 Post by rastapax »

you are right this to proportion aurea.jajaja I create of as much work. it already leaves a design intuitive the gold measurement but this present from you hoist spear in cassete spear in a snail - I want to do tb an opinion on other logos
- Otl to aicher great designer took but the simple thing from an object of pictographic way the logo of the claws is very pictographic
-but the concept does not include to puppy but to mammals, dogs cats bears wolves and a great amount of animals… what it gives him the support is I title. without I title is single a claw is not puppy

- with respect to chiguagua ideografia happens to be one since it is possible to be interpreted of many ways…. it is too much synthesis of the form that is lost… is like stretching an elastic. everything has limits this short one

- respect to logo that I also did has many faults. it completes photo happens to be very ilustrativa. it requires of but synthesis. him lack but pro design I am even very unconformed with the result (the idea that is left something reconocible like ubuntu for example) … for that reason I am going to continue raising solutions so that they think

any good and bad opinion well is accepted

sorry by the translation

Have you considered asking Ringo to record this for you?

Perhaps to the tune of "They're gonna put me in the movies"?

Thanks MGFox, very cute :)

I'll use it as Avator from now on :)

You made it with sodipody?
I had used gimp for the first one, but vector-programs are shurely better suited for tracing.
I also see, that you enhanced it on your own, by adding missing lines. Really like it.
