DCOPserver and KDE/Grafpup

#1 Post by msumner »

Hi Guys, I did get KDE running in Grafpup but it would not shut down properly so had to hit the off button. Since then, I get this starting KDE:

ERROR setting up interprocess communication.
Could not read network communication list /root/.DCOPserver_odin_0
Please check that dcopserver program is running.

This is also happening when I run digikam in openbox and it appears to be affecting my ability to use digikam.

I assume dcopserver was there when KDE came up for the first time, but has since gone or got damaged. Any help with this would be appreciated.
Cheers, Mike

A bit more information:
If I start digikam from the terminal, I get this:

sh-3.00# digikam

kdeinit: Launched DCOPServer, pid = 6856 result = 0
DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed

That sounds like my problem in Grafpup 104. Have you changed /etc/hostname by any chance?

I think it should be odin rather than thor with Grafpup 2

No, I just checked, and it is still odin.

I dont like KDE at all, and will be sticking with openbox, but to run digikam, it appears to need the dcopserver thing working.
