Toshiba could well be a goer; however I can't get any version of puppy to see the network on an Acer Aspire 3000 variety of laptop, which uses an SiS 900 series chipset.

Had some work to do on repairing WinXP on that machine, and ended up going back to use an early version of PCLinuxOS live which hasn't failed me anywahere so far.

I haven't yet tried grafpup on it, though.

Very nice WhoDo, polish is something that shouldn't be overlooked.
But the "just works" thing comes above all else of course.
Just works seems to relate mostly to MIME, the file types being handled properly.
Other than that, the media codecs for music & movies are real critical.

I'm not a fan of Mozilla / Seamonkey, but it's good for a basic browser.
Firefox is my work horse, Opera may be a good choice though.
