Quisp Database Configuration

My html forms in Quisp have not been working correctly. When I use the form method POST, input field values do not appear to be sent to the Quisp "target" page. I think the problem is related to Quisp's configuration with the local server in Puppy 2.14.

This problem also occurs with the example code that comes with Quisp when Quisp is using the local server in Puppy 2.14. The Quisp example named textarea1 uses the form method POST. On the Quisp web site on SourceForge, this example works correctly as demonstrated here:

The same example, however, on the Puppy local server does not work correctly. When Quisp is installed from the PETGet package, the local server URL for this example is:

http://127.0.0.1/cgi-bin/quisp?rtn=textarea1

On the local server, the example fails by not showing the Quisp "target" page with the data entered by the user. I've been able to replicate this problem on two computers running Puppy 2.14. One machine, my laptop, has Puppy installed on the hard drive. The other machine runs Puppy from the Live CD.

I looked at the configuration files for Quisp and the local server and I didn't find any settings that appeared to influence this behavior. However, I'm in way over my head in trying to solve this issue.

Please let me know if anyone knows of a setting than can simply be modified to fix this problem. Without such an easy fix, I'm going to try to manually install Qusip on Puppy or Ubuntu and see if that fixes the problem.

Here is a follow-up report. I am now successfully running the Quisp Database in Puppy 2.14. I resolved my problem by installing a different web server. I'm using Abyss Web Server which is here:

There are no doubt other servers that would work and other ways to fix this problem. However, I do not know enough about Linux to implement a more sophisticated fix.

Installing Abyss was easy and it has a very nice browser-based control panel. I used to use the Windows version. I didn't need to make any changes to the Quisp installation in Puppy.

Congratulations! Yes, Abyss is one blissfully small server. It's good it now has "absolutely free" version.
