'lo all...
Whilst fiddling about with packaging-up an NFS package, I thought it would be handy to make something *simple* to make my life easier...
Thus, last night, I built the attached DotPup. It's a DotPup that yo uinstall to create DotPups from file listings.
Nothing fancy, no (significant) error checking, and no windows/pretty shells... but it works.
When you click on the file in Rox, it installs itself (into /root/my-applications/mkPup) and opens a window with the instructions on how to create a DotPup.
Hopefully, it's basic enough for people to easily get into distributing their applications, data files, etc via DotPups.
Let's know if you have any thoughts on this .pup ...but I'll leave the 'real' development of how to build DotPups to GuestToo, xanatos, etc

How does it compare to the Visual DotPup Maker?
The simplest way to assess it is to look at the (attached) 'Read Me' file. No doubt my version is going to be more 'old fashioned' but as I say, it works... and there are 'windows-focused' people and 'command-line-focused' people... Just thinking about catering to both a littleFlash wrote:How does it compare to the Visual DotPup Maker?

I was able to download both the zip and the .pup OK - try again . . .
I look forward to trying them later. Making dotpups easier is a good idea.
G2's tutorial is straightforward. It takes awhile to get it if you are a small brained cructacean like me. Most find it easy. Hopefully xanatos will be developing a visual version and this script looks well formed - look forward to new dotpups using it . . .
The trick is to start with something simple - have a go . . .
