Does Wordview work for you?

No OpenGL errors, just the following:
wine:
creating configuration directory '/root/.wine'...
Failed to open the service control manager.
err:
module:
import_dll Library wined3d.dll (which is needed by L'c:
\\windows\\system32\\d3d8.dll') not found
err:
module:
import_dll Library wined3d.dll (which is needed by L'c:
\\windows\\system32\\d3d9.dll') not found
wine:
'/root/.wine' created successfully.
On the plus side, Wordview.exe works - I had to install in Windows XP and copy the folder over to my wine installation in Puppy, but it is working. Still can't install anything properly though.

I mean the wordview from my dotpup.
The dotpup includes some dlls required for some programs.

OpenGL:
You can install it, even if your card has no accelleration.
Even if 3D-applications would run slow, this would fix the missing dependency of the wine with OpenGL.

Mark,

Thanks for the new version of Wine...it seems to work fine for me. I used the .sfs version. I can get Wordview running perfectly and an application that I use at school works well too :-) However, I am trying to get some DVD Decrypter to recognize my cd/dvd drive. If I mount my /mnt/hdc I can open files from it in other apps, but it is still not being recognized to load up a dvd. I attempted to use winecfg to get a one of the windows drives such as d:\ to map to /dev/hdc but no luck.

Any ideas or can someone point me in the right direction.

I feel a Wine video tutorial coming on ;-)

Thanks,

Rhino

Just found that this thread seems to apply to me.
I've been trying Crossover and have found that I get the "glibc without NPTL or TLS" problem.
I downloaded your "Wine without OpenGL" .sfs and tried that. I did delete all previous wines.
I still get the error although it was hard to find :D I had to run 'winelauncher' and then look at the log file.
I followed the instructions at the beginning of this thread but still most things just don't work. Winecfg works and winelauncher starts but goes no further.
Your Wordview pup does nothing although it did create root/.wine.
Big question here though - I'm trying all this in puppy 2.13 - should it work?
Tell me it shouldn't  then I can find other things to do
Cheers

In Muppy 007 (based on Puppy 2.12) I had to delete ALL old files in /usr/lib/wine before I installed the 0.9.28 dotpup.
There must be one old disturbing it, did not compare yet which.

you might try older versions:
0.9.17
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Emulators/

0.9.22
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Emulators/Wine-0.9.22/

0.9.17 seems to be working for most people.

Or use Muppy007, that works on 2 different computers for me, it has wine 0.9.28.

Hello, I tried installing the wine .sfs file in puppy 2.13. (I just renamed it to wine-0.9.28_213.sfs instead of 212.sfs.

It installed everything fine, and after I ran the wordview dotpup, it created the /.wine folder and everything. However, when I click the wordview icon, it does nothing. Do you know what is happening?

I got the same
wine:
glibc >= 2.3 without NPTL or TLS is not a supported combination.
It will most likely crash. Please upgrade to a glibc with NPTL support.
wine:
glibc >= 2.3 without NPTL or TLS is not a supported combination.
It will most likely crash. Please upgrade to a glibc with NPTL support.
errors that WhoDo was getting, but you said it didn't matter, and he seemed to get wine to work.

Is it an issue with puppy2.13? Or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks so much for your help!

I can't get Wine-mime-type-for-Rox-1.2.pup working properly. I install, it shows up on right click Pup... Winecfg. However, I can't execute an .EXE file with ROX by double clicking on it. It just sits there. I am running puppy 2.14.

Wine-mime-type-for-Rox-1.2.pup is only for RoxFiler-1.2(Puppy-2.12 and older) you're gonna need another way to get the same 'Click' functionality. I don't have that dotpup, can't help you right now. Hopefully another user will do that.
