What Packages do you want to see in TEENpup 2.0.0 |
|
Hello TEENpup users,
Please supply some feedback and what you feel should be included in TEENpup 2.0.0
While I won't be able to include all of the Apps you recommend, at least I should be able to include some. To remain true to Puppy, I feel the size of the next TEENpup should remain where it is or become a little smaller.
If you want to give feedback on the iso size as well feel free to do so.

CAD and Xara |
|
Were CAD and Xara in the first TEENpup? Those were not available in other puplets, as far as I know. So they should be good to have.
A publisher package, like Scribus.
Video and audio editor will be good to have, too.
My view is that the size of ISO is not critical. Just do a frugal install, or put the sfs on a hard disk if using live CD, and it should work well. Of course for people with 512 MB RAM, a 256 MB sfs* will be great to have.
--------------------
* not ISO, which can be larger by the size of zdrv.

Hello Raffy,
TEENpup 1.0.0 includes Qcad, XaraLX and Scribus (With extra Templates)
I can tell TEENpup users that K3B burner will be in the next TEENpup version released, X-cdroast will not.
Also expect some Puppy 2.14 default packages to be replaced. For example if K3B can burn the same files a Gcombust then I see no need to keep Gcombust Any space saved deleting doubled up packages will allow room on the iso for a more useful collection of packages.
If I feel a more feature rich App will be of more help to a TEENpup user than the already included App in Puppy 2.14 it will be replaced
For example Puppy 2.14's Calender and TEENpup 2.0.0's expected Calender. See Images.

Hello everyone,
It looks like most of you aren't to worried about what will be in TEENpup 2.0.0 as there haven't been many replies.
I will continue working on TEENpup 2.0.0 and include what I feel you would like.
All I can say is there's be alot of Experimenting going on with good results and alot of time wasted on those that didn't work.

My sister was given a DSLite as a present. Will it support that? PSP? Phones?
I am told these devices are important to most teens. Personally I would like to have voice recognition. There is one open source project . . .
I was looking at Vector Linux today to see if Beryl worked and it had some amazingly fun games in there . . . A flight sim and all sorts. The only one they had which I have seen in Puppy is Tux racer . . .
I would also recommend Looking glass (java based) and Beryl when ready
Teenpup should be fun I take it

Hello Lobster,
At the moment due to my PC not being new enough to run 3D graphics, I have no way of testing if Beryl will work, I guess if someone wants 3D in TEENpup they will have to add it themselves, sorry!
As for voice recognition, maybe in the next TEENpup, do you have a link to a package?
I am assuming that a DSLite is an MP3 player? MUT and Pmount see my MP3 player, I don't know if it is because it's also a memory stick as well?
As will all Linux's, they will never be finished as there's always some new improvement to be added, all we can do is release a snapshot and call that a new version. Who knows what new advancements will make their way into TEENpup 3.0.0
As for TEENpup 2.0.0 I have a feeling some will love it and some won't will the Apps that have been added.

Hello Lobster,
So the DS Lite is basically a gamebox type thing. Does it have a USB connection. If so do you want to transfer data. Does Windows have a program that she normally uses?
Also I had alook a the voice recognition link and some didin't work. The IBM engine required to drive some of the Packages costs $39.95 or more?
Don't Know?

I think it has a specialist usb connection - not sure. She is using it for brain training (one of the popular programs). It has built in wireless - so that may be the way to connect . . .
Gekko is also going to look at speech recognition . . .

The DS doesnt connect to PC's in any way, except for charging with a usb cable. It has no actual connectivity, believe me, I've tried. Pidgin needs be included
Once TEENpup is released I'll install Beryl in it and make a TEENpup3D release if you want I can make a NVidia AND ATi specific version
