Running 4.2 / Bionic64 -- Do you as well get a "File format not recognized" error trying to extract this pkg?

Other pkgs there seem OK.

Yep, the good ol' problem with nluug: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 397#791397
(update: changing network.http.accept-encoding doesn't seem to work for me anymore in FF 78.0.1)

It's because the PET gets uncompressed on-the-fly during the transfer, so the resulting archive is just a plain TAR, instead of GZIPped TAR.
Other PETs there (except for eudev and getflash) are XZ compressed, what most likely makes them immune to that.

Btw, I've also seen the opposite - some downloaded TAR archives may be GZIP compressed twice.
