New FF-Quantum ESR 'portables'...

#1 Post by Mike Walsh »

Evening, all.

Here are the 'portable' versions of the 'new' Firefox Extended Support Release.....v78.01 currently.

Same format as usual, as based on Fred's original Firefox-portable packages. Download; unzip; place the directory anywhere you like. Click to open, click 'LAUNCH' to run. The necessary Pulse stuff is included, but you will need GTK3 installed.

Self-contained; keeps its profile within the directory. This means you can, if required, run this from a USB flash drive...

Please be aware that Mozilla have 'upped the ante' with this release. Minimum required glibc is now 2.17, so won't work with anything earlier than around UPup Raring, or thereabouts.....and this means up-to-date FF won't run in Precise 571 or Slacko 570, etc, any longer.

They've also bumped-up the minimum required versions of libstdc++ (4.8.1 or newer), and also GTK+ (3.14 or newer).

Downloads are available from the Drive, as always:-

Navigate through and help yourselves to the one you want. MD5 checksums also available.

Enjoy!

Mike.
