BionicPup32 - Response to pings (Solved)

#1 Post by Mercedes350se »

I have no /etc/rc.d/rc.firewall file even though it shows as firewall enabled. I would like to edit the file so there is no response to pings.

rc.firewall is in /etc/init.d

Read the readme file.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

s243a, With earlier versions of puppy it was a simple matter of editing /etc/rc.d/rc.firewall. I will investigate my router settings. EDIT: It would seem that the firewall script in this version of puppy does not need to be amended to prevent response to pings. I did not change any router settings.

bigpup, In this version of puppy the .../rc.firewail script is completely different to the earlier versions, and also in a different location but it does mention:

Code: Select all

# You may want to save this script as /etc/rc.d/rc.firewall
# and make it executable, like this:
# chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.firewall
# Slackware Linux will then automatically run this script
# with the "start" parameter.
