Hi Barry,

as some additional testing showed, gparted 1.0.0 is not really capable of correctly dealing with flash sticks which contain hybrid iso-images.

The screenshot in the attacchment came about as follows:

1. Running EasyOS-2.2.3, I plugged in a flash-stick on which I previously had copied the Quirky-8.6.1-iso. No drive icon(s) appeared on the desktop.

2. After restarting the x-sever, the drive icons sdc1 and sdc2 appeared on the desktop and could be opened/mounted.

3. gparted 1.0.0 seemed to have access to the flash-stick already before the x-server restart. The stick already was displayed as ISOIMAGE TYPE="iso9660", but the iso's content was not shown. Despite repeatedly 'refreshing' gparted, this information remained unchanged after restarting x and after sdc1 and sdc2 were accessed (mounted/opened) by mouse clicks! Gparted continues displaying sdc as 'Not mounted'.

of course, you are right!

The risk, I'm thinking of can be considered 'user-related', and I tried to figure out a way to minimise this risk. Maybe, for most users, a simple warning message at boot-up also might do.

What do you think of the supposition that choosing the kernel parameter 'wkg_dev=zram0' still is a valuable alternative? Since, in this case, no password is required for booting, the working partition remains encrypted even if it is mounted, later. And, it also is possible to save data onto additionally inserted drives.

Good day!
There is one thing, that is very important for me - proper font rendering. It is because there are a lot of explanation pages in EasyOS, and I have to read a lot of text. And my eyes got tired...
The problem is, that RGBA font rendering does not working properly in almost all apps, except urxvt and Chromium.
Here are my font rendering settings.
And here is the result.
As you can see the same font has been rendered differently! In urxvt the RGBA rendering is working properly. The font is smooth and pleasant to eyes, just like in Linux Mint 18. But in Sakura, looks like the RGBA rendering does not working as it should be. Font looks blurry (look at t letter for example), and while reading this font, my eyes got tired... The difference is visible the best, if you look at letters t, r and q.
3. Is it possible to make, that all applications fonts would have proper RGBA rendering, just like in urxvt?

And some new problems, not so important, but still worth to mention.
1. When I launch Input Devices settings, this window always pops out, which is annoying.
2. PET Package Manager sometimes completely freezes and stops responding. In such cases I can not do anything on desktop except hard restart.
3. Please, do not forget about my previous post.

There were some earlier posts discussing the merits of booting Easy from a USB-stick versus an ISO. The ability to bootup on different PCs was seen as an advantage for the ISO.

There are some things that you might setup for particular hardware, such as run the XorgWizard, or the Multiple Sound Card Wizard. These make changes, for example /etc/X11/xorg.conf, that may be wrong if the USB-stick is booted on a different PC.

However, Easy has "hardware profiling" for Xorg, that automatically takes care of this situation. So for Xorg anyway, you can merrily bootup on any number of different PCs.

This hardware profiling for Xorg needed some fixing for /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d, see blog post:

G'day All, I've taken EasyOS 2.2.3 for a Spin, Boots & Runs Fine from the USB Flasher Drive az it's Designed for However I'm having Trouble Setting Up WiFi w/ the Newer Network Manager & Using the Classic interNet Connection Wizard it can't find any Wireless Chip ( which does Work w/ Windows 10 ), @ the moment it's Connecting via Eth0. Any Help w/ this would be Appreciated.

Also I've attempted a Dual Boot Frugal install w/ Windows 10 in the Root of sda2, But Grub4Dos Bootloader config wRote the menu.lst File 2 sda1, so I just get ERROR: Boot partition not found, after finding drives...
Have now dropped into a shell in the initramfs, etc

Does anyone have a PC with two sound cards? If so, would you mind doing that little test that I posted about on the blog?

If lspci does not list the cards in same order as 'aplay -l', then I will have to figure it out differently.

Barry, unless one is running the PC as a professional DAW, it is extremely rare that one has more than one PCI soundcard. The most common reason for having multiple soundcard is with USB audio dongle, and that cannot be captured with lspci.
