I use handbrake as a general purpose video compressor.
I prefer the cli (command line) version.
This runs in BionicPup64 8.0 without installing other dependencies:

I was aware of Handbrake as a video conversion application before stumbling upon the thread mikeb started. There's a suggestion on that thread that after installation it may be possible to use it from the command line to perform such conversions. mikeb's tool, however, specifically provides a GUI for converting DVDs.
Good to know that Handbrake via pkgs.org and Ubuntu's repos work OOTB under BionicPup64. I have a hunch that other versions built to run under other current Linux operating systems will perform similarly under their binary-compatible Puppies.
Based on a quick scan of the posts via google, and decompressing the pet, I think mikeb's tool uses whatever ffmpeg is on your system. Consequently it may be functional under many Puppies without regard for whether they are 32 or 64 bit. Since there are other applications which can perform conversions, I thought the importance of this application was the specific use mikeb identified.
