Geany and plugin Updates - For sugestions & discussion???

#1 Post by scsijon »

Part of what I'm doing with T290 is helping update a number of packages.

In this case it's geany which is now at Version 1.30.1
https://geany.org.

There is also a heap of plugins available
https://plugins.geany.org/

I was wondering if anyone had a preferance to having some of these plugins "built-into" the package?

I'm only considering a few (3-6) if their worth it, I don't plan on adding them all!

I do expect a reason to add them though as i'm also considering alternately having the plugins as an extra package.

Thoughts and requests please?

I will leave this open for comments/additions until the 10th of June, then make some decisions.

Hi scsijon,

Following your T290 project with interest brought me here. My use of geany is rather simple, text editing. So I only scanned the plugin list. One item caught my eye as something which might be useful to many: geanymacro.

I wouldn't mind trying the PGP plugin for geany:
https://plugins.geany.org/geanypg.html

I came across a guide for it on freenet:

(the link requires freemet running to view it)

The LaTeX plugin might also be interesting but I'd like to here from people that have tried it.

i'd like to see overview, multiterm, tree browser, extend select, export, spell check, numbered bookmarks, and macros included or available as pets. (if you'd be so kind/thanks in advance).

Markdown

#7 Post by tuxtoo »

As there has been no activity on this thread for some time, so not sure what the status is; abandoned, on hold or otherwise.

If possible I would like the markdown plugin.

Markdown plugin requires WebKitGTK+ which is not normally in Puppy and is rather large.
Otherwise, geany and most of the other plugins can easily be compiled using autotools as normal.
Here is version 1.36 of geany plus 1.36 of geany-plugins compiled in (my remaster of) DpupStretch

Cheers OscarTalks, Didn't realize it required WebKitGTK+, however I can live without the Geany Mardown Plugin, as I have a markdown extension for Firefox/Palemoon and I am using Racy-5.5.
