My experience tells me it works on the consoles I use; some specialized Linux forum
threads also report it works on those and various other consoles.

That's enough validation for me. I'm NOT going to install all manner of consoles and
pseudo-consoles on my Puppy to test the Shift-Insert cross-copy.

@Flash: yes, an answer to the OP's question has been provided.

As far as I'm concerned this matter is closed.

For the sake of clarity, I think it is worth reminding/mentioning that a Linux console/virtual-console is an optional feature provided by the kernel itself, whereas terminal emulators are user-mode software (which can be implemented very differently from each other). That's not a pedantic matter, it's an important distinction. In fact, consoles, virtual consoles, terminal and pseudo-terminal handling, drivers related and so on, is a worthwhile topic for study all on its own.
