2.14 install won't force ACPI from boot script (solved)

#1 Post by mandy »

I've looked for days to the solution to this problem. When booting live CD, I pass puppy acpi=force apm=off and when it boots, I do a dmesg and the acpi stuff is loaded. After install, apm is enabled but acpi is not. I tried about 50 times to load acpi=force, acpi=strict, acpi=on, apm=off, and various combinations of these to menu.lst and these arguments are apparently not passed to the kernel. I hate to have to hit the power button to power off, and now today, for 3 times total, I have hit the button to power off and it does, and then I look later to find the power light is on and the screen doesn't respond. This is an older NEC Versa SX laptop and I've run 10 other distros on it with ACPI with no problems. I'd like to use Puppy (trying 2.14 BTW) because this sure looks like an interesting thing going on here and I want to be part of it. Lean and mean. Congrats. Fine distro. Thank you!

Duh, sorry. I feel like I just filed a frivolous lawsuit. Seems this Linux guru put the boot arguments on the wrong line. Till next time......pet your puppy.
