can anybody recommend a checklist program?

#1 Post by nosystemdthanks »

preferably one that uses flat files, not a db.

gui or command line. preferably modern (doesnt have to be bloated.) feel free to recommend anything at all!

Good old pencil and paper. Seriously. Works best for me.

To just make a checklist.
Any of the text editors, word processors, etc... can make a list and save it as a file.

Are you looking for something you can make a list of items, shown in a program window, and you click on them to check off?
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

You could use Osmo PIM, it has a tasks manager, and I think you can even create PDFs of your tasks.
Plus it's already included in most Puppys!

Hi nosystemdthanks,

musher0's post reminded me of the computerized equivalent, xournal. See http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=36179 and attached Screenshot.

You didn't mention what Puppy you are using. I'm posting from Xenialpup64 using a 64-bit version of xournal. I also have a 32-bit version which runs under Slacko 5.7.2CE. Both are 'Program Folders' on /mnt/home (you could place the folder in /opt) with executables started by clicking. But you could create a menu-entry/launch icon. That they are program folders and run under both Slackos and 'ubuntus' suggest they are readily available. Muggins' version from the above link may work on your 32-bit OS or 64-bit OS with 32 compatibility installed/loaded.

The external folder is only 1232 Kb. Although the app is designed to premit drawing using even a tablet, text-mode can be turned on and colors selected via the tools menu.

Hi, nosystemdthanks.

There's this in the Cloud, plus a number of free templates here.

I'm attaching a very general one from the latter site, in RTF
format, if it can be of help.

Good luck!

I'd use calcurse (todo section). Old cli/ncurses program that just works. All the data files are simple flat/text so easily edited using other tools. I store mine on a ssh server in encrypted form, and have a script that connects and copies/decrypts before running calcurse (re-encrypt and save to ssh server again afterwards).

ill add this to the list because i found it asking the same on the ubuntu forums:

http://todotxt.org/ they also recommended cherrytree (which ive tried.) im not surprised there were more replies here. it seemed like the sort of question this community would have ideas about. thanks again.

Simple Notes or Table using RTFEdit

#12 Post by mikeslr »

Celebrating JRB's & Smithy's revival of RTFEdit, http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 93#1026493 I mentioned it's light-weight and many capabilities elsewhere, http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 54#1026454.

But I did not previously mention that it could produce Tables such as the ToDo List in this screenshot.
