Hi tallboy,
Thanks for reporting the missing PcurlFtp installation.
If I understand correctly, PcurlFtp requires Curlftpfs, Mpscan, Pure-ftpd, and Rox.
I can add PcurlFtp to the next release of stretch 7.5.
---
Concerning the webcam in your Dell E6230, are you saying it is not defined in the lsusb report of PupSysInfo?
For example, PupSysInfo shows my webcam as follows:
(PSI -> Devices -> USB Devices -> Complete)
Code: | Bus 001 Device 003:
ID = 0402:9665 ALi Corp. Gateway Webcam
USB Version = 2.00
Manufacturer = XPA5J1FH8
Product = 1.3M WebCam
Max Current = 500mA |
If you prefer a complete usb report, go to a terminal and enter lsusb -v

PcurlFtp already has an entry in the Network menu.
From pupsysinfo and PupCamera digital camera access in the Graphic menu. The camera works in Windows 10.

@tallboy,
To access the static content (images) acquired by a portable digital camera/phone/tablet, the following apps may be helpful:
1 - Menu -> Graphic -> PupCamera digital camera access
2 - Menu -> Graphic -> Gtkam camera manager
3 - Menu -> Filesystem -> Connect your android phone (MTP Device)
4 - Alternatively, you could install CamPhoneTab - USB interface for cameras/phones/tablets
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=102321
---
On the other hand, to acquire and manage images/videos via the built-in webcam of your Dell Latitude E6230 laptop, you could install the uvc-compliant Guvcview which is available in the Puppy Package Manager.

I updated the PaleMoon 28.2.2 to the latest 28.4.1, and it crashed on opening a log-in window. (reported in palemoon forum). I copied the 28.2.2 in the non-save-file version presented by Lick, saved it to /opt/, and everything works again.

I haven't encountered any problems of that type with 28.4.1 so far. I'm running the 4.1.48 kernel version of RC4.

The Dpup is installed using Lick in Windows 10. After I discovered that the upgraded Palemoon chrashed, I deleted it from /opt/, and also the prefs directory /root/.moonchild productions/, and the /root/.cache/moonchild productions/ dir. I then copied the PM 28.2.2 from the non-save-file version of Dpup, from the Lick boot menu, and pasted it to /opt/.
But, since the Dpup .sfs'es are stored read-only, it means that the original Palemoon 28.2.2 is still in there somewhere. Can the original 28.2.2 be revived, or do I have to continue to use the one I installed? (and which I believe is saved to the save-file?) Maybe a nooby question, but I am not familiar with frugal installs.

Hi tallboy,
For frugal installations of Dpup Stretch, the original Palemoon folder is here:
/initrd/pup_ro2/opt/palemoon

Thank you. Can I just copy it to /opt? Or make a symlink?
I have another nooby question: I have compiled the latest ImageMagick-7 in Dpup Stretch-7.5, and ran it's test program without fail. A fantastic program! But the final step, installation, spread it's files all over the place.
Are you familiar with a good recipe somewhere in the forum, on how to make an .sfs and/or a .pet from a program I compile myself? I would like to publish them for download here.
EDIT: I found it in the Wikka!
But it is quite old info...

dir2sfs, dir2pet, and new2dir are still present. I havn't used them in years, but they are worth a try. If it fails, you can use:
make DESTDIR=/somedirectory install
then mksquashfs <options> /somedirectory

Evening, radky/everybody.
Now, then. I'm a-thinking about giving this a look-see. Coupla questions.....
Are the DPups stuck with using .deb packages only, or can they also use .pets/SFSs/run 'portables', etc?
Following a response from Foxpup, do they make use of the Debian repos.....even though, apparently, 'sudo apt-get install' isn't needed? Do they use something similar to the PPM?
Would my 'portable'-Mozilla browsers (based on Fred's Quantum-portable) run in this? (Can't think of any reason why they shouldn't, but it'd be nice to have confirmation, like..!)
And, most important of all.....does it run as root, or as a 'user' only?
Mike.
