One more struggle is that X Keyboard properties also resets periodically
and stubbornly to the default values (delay=660, rate=25). This just happened right now,
as i was checking for details.

Are you using menu>Desktop>pupX set properties of X>Keyboard to make these changes?

Hi, a few minutes ago, I downloaded the
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 371195904 Mar 21 18:57 /mnt/sdb2/Downloads/bionicpup64-8.0-uefi.iso
and put these files into a directory on a hard drive.

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 292466688 Feb 26 06:13 puppy_bionicpup64_8.0.sfs
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2619177 Feb 26 06:11 initrd.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 59727872 Feb 24 06:19 zdrv_bionicpup64_8.0.sfs
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6189216 Feb 19 10:15 vmlinuz

Did a grub4dosconfig, then booted the Bionic64, rebooted and made savefolder.

(I'm in a Xenial32 just now)

In the savefolder is
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 39789 Mar 21 19:16 Xorg.0.log

I booted into Bionic64 and changed the keyboard with Mouse/Keyboard Wizard to 250 delay, 19 repeat. That has survived a reboot.
Where are those settings stored, in a file I guess?

All this is on the Dell E6410 laptop.

666philb,

Bionicpup64 8.0 iso
I see that there is a Windows_installer directory in the iso.
It has a zip package of Lick-1.3.1 in it.
The Puppy windows installer.

Is there someplace when you bootup a Live Bionicpup64 8.0 that tells you about this?
What about in a frugal install on a USB flash drive?

Several times, people have reported that clicking on the network tray icon, would cause it to go away and no longer be in the tray.

I think I know what is happening.
The menu that pops up when you click on the network tray icon has the quit option at the top of the menu.
It is the first option and is already highlighted as being selected.
So, that is what it does.
Quit and the tray icon goes away.

This quit option needs to be moved to the bottom of this menu.

Anyone know how to do that?
How to change the order of options in this tray, network icon, right click menu?

I think that should be up to 666philb and it being submitted to the Puppy master for official Puppy status.

Has anyone had any luck getting Nvidia-340-107 to compile on bionicpup with kernel 4.19.23. On mine nvidia340-107.run it states something about not being able to create synlink to libcuda.
There is one here https://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pet_packages-bionic64/
but it is for 4.19.12 kernel.
My Dell e6400 laptop has nvidia nvs3100m and it would be nice to get real drivers.

pete

I tried compiling it and it seemed to compile for me.
Could not test, because my computer uses Intel Graphics.

Do it following this procedure.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=110611

I had the devx, kernel sources, and 32bit compatibility sfs's loaded.
You can get them from here:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/
Look in pet packages bionicpup64 and puppy bionic>bionicpup64

Hey bigpup, I have done this a bunch of times on different pups and never had a problem.
But I did not have 32bit compatibility sfs's loaded. I will try it again,

thanks pete

Hey bigpup, getnvidia looked like it worked but on reboot black screen. I even tried it on a desktop with a 8600gt card and no go. It has to be the 4.19.23 kernel. I have bionicdog64 installed on both machines with nvidia-340 with no problem, dog has 4.15.22 kernel.

thanks pete

Do NOT let the Nvidia run package make the xorg.conf
It makes one that is not setup for Puppy.

Try booting to a prompt.
Run xorgwizard.
Make sure to choose nvidia by writing that in the driver selection.
Set resolution to something you know is good.
Any help?
