I have a fresh install of Bionicpup64 7.9.8
Downloaded Firefox from Quickpet>Browsers.
Let Firefox update to the latest version 64.0.2
Did no setting changes to Firefox preferences.
You Tube videos are playing OK for me. Sound working OK.
Could you try a clean boot of Bionicpup64 7.9.8 not using the save, install Firefox from Quickpet, and try a YouTube video.

Sound works on fresh install. Must be the save.

It should be located in /var/log/
Is it?

It finds it in my frugal install of Bionicpup64 7.9.8
Is it finding any of the log files?

Rox file manager
Right click on an image file.
Select default image editor.
Nothing happens.
Default image editor is set as Gimp.
Used Default Application Chooser to set image editor to Mtpaint.
Now image opens in Mtpaint |
hi bigpup,
/usr/local/bin/defaultimageeditor is already set to mtpaint. if you upgraded an old save that may have been the problem

Frugal install on a Dell Latitude E6400.
This started with 7.9.8 Alpha or Beta
First hangup for 2 minutes during "Loading Kernel Modules..."
Second hangup for another 2 minutes at login, just before sarting X.
X eventually starts, with CPU at ~80%.
Task manager reveals 2 udevd processes. Once those are killed, everything runs smoothly.
I've tried swapping kernels, hangups persist.
Disabling udev completely takes care of the double process after reboot (there's a similar situation with the latest FatDog).
Other pups, recent or not, and Bionic 7.9.7 boot fine. |
hi westwest,
can you open /etc/udev/udev.conf and uncomment line 3 (remove the #) then reboot and then PM me your /var/log/messages

Also, when compiling some applications you get errors about too many levels of symlinks. That can be fixed by copying the files inside /usr/include/sys from the devx to /usr/include/sys.
Really like this OS! |
thanks, brought up on woofce
also wdlkmpx is aware of the 0 size problem with rox and pmount

Encrypted savefile |
|
Greetings all,
I use Bionicpup with an encrypted savefile which requires password entry at boot time.
In previous versions of Puppy that I've used, an incorrect password entry resulted in being presented with another opportunity to enter the password.
With Bionicpup, if the password is entered incorrectly I get a screen showing a dump of the last lines of bootinit.log (saying that mounting the save file has failed). The system then pauses for 60 seconds and boots without savefile.
Is there any way to revert to the old behavior of having the opportunity to re-enter the password if entered incorrectly?

Made a chromium64_71.0.3578.80+pepper_32.0.0.114_patch.sfs mix of 666philb patched one and peebee latest "lx-spot" one, thanks both.
Look much more stable here then quickpet supplied version.
just few hours of testing.....more 100% warranty free sharing..
Any possible improvement welcome.
edit:more testing,it start faster,??...dont ask me why.
Lets detail that "more stable",note ,i am not a browser engineer,
so ,googling inodes logs mesg ,
less memory leaks would be more precise.

hi rek769
encrypted savefiles are now encrypted with luks and are much more secure.
i've raised your issue on woofce, as a second chance at entering a password is a good idea https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/issues/1310
