wouldn't trust a proprietary, commercial plugin with this task. this is a job for organisations. in addition, swiss-army-knife security tools that try or claim to do everything you need dont necessarily result in higher quality. theyre often just hype, and hype is not where you want to start when increasing security. security people use a variety of tools, so the moment a vendor tells you theyre offering a one-stop shop solution, you know theyre targeting people who dont know better.
The freedom to NOT run the software, to be free to avoid vendor lock-in through appropriate modularization/encapsulation and minimized dependencies; meaning any free software can be replaced with a user’s preferred alternatives.

TunnelBear Blocker

#3 Post by labbe5 »

TunnelBear Blocker is based off of uBlock Origin, and we would like to thank its developers for all the tremendous hard work they have put in to make such a fantastic blocker.

Additionally, we would like to thank the maintainers of the various list filters for their tremendous work and contribution to the community, along with the developers behind PixelBlock, whose works are used as part of TunnelBear Blocker.

The goal of TunnelBear Blocker is NOT to supersede uBlock Origin, but to offer a simpler, user-friendly alternative for a broader audience.

uBO-Scope

#4 Post by labbe5 »

uBlock Origin and uMatrix developer has a new addon : uBO-Scope.

Actually, it does not block anything. It only shows trackers.

I currently use this Firefox addon to add entries on my hosts file.

Since i block everything related to Google with my hosts file, trackers are few and far between, but still i use the URL of other trackers to add entries on my hosts file.

Useful.

The Internet is full of unsavoury content: advertisers wanting to sell you stuff you don't need, trackers extracting and selling your data as if it were oil, and malicious content vying to hijack your favourite device. This collection hopes to help you minimise these issues, and to maintain a more enjoyable online presence, using the wonderful, free and open source utility known as Pi-hole.
