Pinebook Linux laptop is low specs, but it manages to run a special remix of 1.3G KDE Neon :

Note that James Bond will have to compile a kernel for the Pinebook
to allow fatdog arm to run. I would do this except I don't have any experience in kernel compiling.

It is a wireless device with a keyboard on one side and a mouse function on the other side.

On the hardware side, that newer tech in the XPS 13, including USB-C and Thunderbolt, all now works under Ubuntu without a hitch.

The Dell XPS 13 DE has always been an exceptionally well-built, great-looking piece of hardware. The revamped version is no exception, and the new white and rose-gold version looks pretty slick.

The Infinity Edge display on the XPS 13 comes in two flavors—3840×2160 touchscreen 4k or an FHD non-touch option. There's a roughly $200 difference between the two.

Some might argue that Linux has reached a stage where it tends to work out of the box on almost any hardware. But while the situation is certainly better than it once was, my experience has been that it remains rare to buy a brand-new laptop and get everything working right away.

If you depend on Linux to get work done every day, that reality is not acceptable—which is why Dell's official Linux support has become not just nice to have, but potentially necessary. You don't want to be tracking down hardware drivers or trying to figure out the best Xrandr settings for your display when you have work to get done and deadlines to meet.

But while the update to 18.04 is a welcome one, and there are a couple of bones thrown specifically to developers, overall the XPS 13 DE does subtly suggest Dell may be moving away from the developer angle to a more mainstream Linux laptop...

No doubt the XPS 13 is a nice piece of equipment, but it should be noted that according to the arstechnica article you cite, the price ranges from $890 to $1680. That's a far cry from the Pinebook of the OP, and not the sort of kit I would imagine would be within the budget of the typical Puppy user. This article by Zdnet is just as enthusiastic but more sober about the pricing:

While this little black $200 laptop isn’t for everyone, I am absolutely enjoying using it. I’ve only seriously started learning and using Linux over the past two years, starting with Raspbian and the Raspberry Pi along with a short stint with the Purism Librem 15. My previous attempts at Linux over the past 20 years were always met with frustration and the inability to even boot, but today we’re seeing a lot of new computer makers actually shipping with supported Linux distributions and things are starting to work really nicely.

Now, I’m not going to pretend that it’s cheap BUT it is really quite competitive when viewed against other laptops in this class, such as the new 16-inch Apple MacBook Pro (€2,699) and even the new Dell XPS 15 (€1,725).

On first sight the Pine book Pro seems pretty attractive, but there are some Cons:- 30 DAY warranty is too low, especially as it is strictly enforced.

Postage from Hong Kong is high. Probably because of Li-Po battery.

If Customs Duty is applied the cost in Canada is pushing C$300.00.

I Will wait three months until the Chinese new year is over and then reconsider purchase.

We requested that the factory would flash the new firmware in the current batch of PBPs ... but clearly someone didn't do their job and current PBPs ship with the faulty firmware.
