How to run Puppy on a Win 10 tablet that no longer(Solved)
I have a TWPno3 model E2005 tablet which no longer boots after a windows update. (Surprise surprise sarc)
Since it is now sitting around doing nothing, I was wondering if anyone knows how to get one of these running puppy. I have a cable I can plug a usb flash drive into.
I already tried using the Use Another Operating System option but it didn't like the linux on the flash drive and wanted windows (fussy thing)

Not easy to find info on this tablet.
I will do some guessing.
If you know how to get into the bios settings.
Look for a setting to disable secure boot.
With secure boot disabled, that may unlock other settings in the bios, about what device you can boot from.
What Linux was on the USB drive?
Sorry, but need to ask.
You do completely understand how to put Puppy Linux on a USB drive so it is bootable?

I have turned secure boot and fast boot off as per mikeslr's excellent article http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=100422.
After the tablet goes through its oops I'm broken and restart twice routine, I select Use A Device and choose EFI USB Device, I get the error message
I am using Xenial pup 64 for this exercise
The setup utility in the BIOS (old language) is InsydeH20 Setup UtilityRev 5.0

What options does it give?System doesn't have any USB boot option. Please select another boot option in Boot Manager Menu
Format of drive may need to be fat32. Some computers only see that format as a bootable USB.

Yes here is a picture of the boot menu when I use the usb flash drive in my computerrcrsn51 wrote:Is your USB drive structured as an EFI device?Yes Bigpup, I know how to make a bootable usb drive.
Hopefully this works. The 2nd image is the grumpy message I get if I try and boot to the UEFI flash drive.
If I boot from the regular flash drive entry, it works fine
The options on the Use A Device menu are Windows Recovery Manager, EFI USB Device, EFI DVD/CD-ROM and EFI Networkbigpup wrote:What options does it give?System doesn't have any USB boot option. Please select another boot option in Boot Manager Menu

That menu looks a lot like my computers menu.Yes here is a picture of the boot menu when I use the usb flash drive in my computer
I am going to assume Puppy is on a Lexar USB flash drive.
Try using the Lexar USB flash drive entry.
If Puppy is on the USB 3.0 flash drive use that entry to boot.
Do not use that UEFI entry.
That wants to see Windows as the bootable OS.
If you have 2 or more USB flash drives plugged in.
Only have the Puppy one plugged in.
I have a laptop that gives Puppy boot problems, if I have another USB drive plugged in, that is not the Puppy USB drive.

This is the bios default boot device selection options? The options on the Use A Device menu are Windows Recovery Manager, EFI USB Device, EFI DVD/CD-ROM and EFI Network
Is secure boot disabled when you see these options?
That kind of looks the way my bios did before I disabled secure boot.
I plugged in the Puppy USB drive.
After disabling secure boot, rebooting into bios setup.
It now offered Other USB devices.
The Puppy USB drive was one of them.
Made it the default boot device.

The tablet is somewhat resricted so that didn't happen for me.bigpup wrote:Any info about what I posted?
The good news is that I did a reformat, which had previously failed, and the tablet is now working.
Thanks guys. There must be serious magic in getting advice on how to put Puppy on a Windows device
