No audio from Facebook or YouTube in Tahrpup
Hello, Just installed puppy linux to my pc and laptop because of windows OS fail. My question is why i cannot get audio to play from facebook videos or youtube. I can hear the notifcations pop up in messenger but everything else, nothing. Please help! I m using firefox as my browser.
Please, always, always, always, tell us the specific Puppy version. That can and does make a difference with a lot of possible issues.
Tahrpup is not enough info.
There are about 6 different versions of Tahrpup and 32bit and 64bit.
What version of Firefox would also help?
In general.
Firefox is the problem.
It wants to use a specific audio player that is not in Puppy.
Firefox wants PulseAudio.
Do what it says here:

Depends on the Firefox version as to how much tweaking you have to do.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

The apulse-0.1.12-x86_64 package should fix the sound problem in Firefox Quantum.
I compiled and uploaded this version recently. Earlier versions placed the libraries in /usr/lib so did not need the apulse wrapper, but someone reported a problem with mhWaveEdit so this version has the libraries in /usr/lib/apulse and so requires the wrapper script. Start Firefox with apulse firefox or use a script named "firefox" in /usr/bin with the path to /usr/lib/apulse given priority.

Some Chromium derivative browsers can be made to work in Tahr64 without too much trouble. These include Iron, Vivaldi, Slimjet and others. I don't do much with 64bit but I did have Opera 55 working recently. Some tweaks are required but apulse is not. Poster Mike Walsh will have more information about some of these including possibly Google Chrome.

How about some response to what we posted to fix Firefox?
For Chromium uninstall whatever you installed.
Us the Puppy Package manager(PPM) to do the uninstall.
Try using the Chromium from here.

Tahrpup is not going to be able to run the newest version, because the newest version of Chromium wants stuff that Tahrpup does not have.
The last few posts in the topic talk about issues with Tahrpup.
This is a constant battle with browsers constantly changing what is needed for them to run.
