Change size and color of mouse pointer?

#1 Post by ChiJoan »

Hello Puppy Devs and all,

I'm sure I'm not the only one who searches for their mouse on screen sometimes, and I remember being allowed to change the size and the color of the pointer in Xandros Linux. So could there be a way to do this from the Live CD?

In Puppy 4.3.1, I had visions of being on Windows with popping up stuff and being unstable...nope, just me trying to find my mouse and it hitting either side of the display and stuff launching and my folders closing. Pretty please, help our poor old eyes out.

Thanks,
Joan in Reno

how to change mouse pointer

Pcur cursor selector will do this.

Go to menu
Desktop
Pcur cursor selector

You will have to install some cursor themes. It will tell you how.

Pcur is the program.

Some of the cursor themes are larger cursor.

So, try some different themes.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Thanks. I'd say Pcur is not included on Slacko

Sorry to insist. Is there a way to change the mouse pointer manually?
I just want to change this detail without losing the other settings of my current theme

Dwnld then extract this to ~/.icons. Now run "pcur" from a shell and choose your new "whitelarge" cursor.

If your browser is Mozilla based, does the cursor remain large when moving around in your browser window?

Hi Semme. I cannot find Pcur on the PPM

Edit:

pcur applied your theme from the shell!
btw the large pointer disappears on some programs like Seamonkey where the default cursor is tiny

Yes, the browser thing is what I asked.

Search your system for a "cursor.theme" file.

Tell me where it is and what's inside..

As I'm not @ the moment on the correct box, here, I'm thinking you need to run this, then restart X.

Code: Select all

ln -s ~/.icons/default /usr/share/icons
Make sure you copy'n paste..

Pcur Menu Selection

If your pup menu has no "Pcur" in Menu > Desktop

Go Menu > Desktop > JWMDesk Manager > Desktop > Mouse Cursor
