i remember long time ago(several yrs) BarryK had a "single file version", something 5.x.xx or so, with kernel and initrd and main.sfs all in one file of about 160MB or so.

But this one seem a little bit different from that of BarryK. Seems this one may make the booting process simpler for newer machines. Probably may take some time to download and try.

I think if you want to make changes to the initrd file then it needs to be separate from the kernel. This puts us at at-least two files.

Anyway, if you are looking for a very minimal version of puppylinux you might find pUPnGo Interesting. It is only 6MB without a GUI, 8MB with a GUI.

First generation Quirky already do that. The SFS file was initrd then initrd was inside of linux kernel file
