Need Thunderbrowse to work right (Solved)

#1 Post by jeffneedle »

Hi. This is a Tahrpup 6.0.4 box, fully updated, 64-bit.

I've installed Thunderbird from the Puppy Package Manager. Version 60.x. I really need Thunderbrowse to work for me. Puppy seems to be unique in that Thunderbird doesn't see the settings for default web browser. A popup box makes us pick the browser each time. Thunderbrowse hasn't released a version that will work with Tbird 60.x. Please, please tell me there's a workaround. I've looked through the forums and found some very old patches, but they point to solutions that are obsolete -- changes to Tbird settings that no longer seem to exist. Thanks, as always.

Never mind. The new Tbird is remembering the choice. Thanks.

Hi, Jeff.

As you've found out, the new T-Bird does finally remember the choice of browser to open when links are clicked on.

Thunderbrowse itself is now deprecated. I used to install it myself, as the very first thing after T-Bird itself.....but I haven't been able to get it functioning for nearly 18 months or so. Like you, when I put the T-Bird 60 packages together for Puppy, I also found out that the link options at long last worked. Thunderbrowse was no longer required...

Mike.

Sigh. Life is tough.

Thunderbird no longer remembers the choice of browser. It automatically
opens Pale Moon. Chrome is the default browser for the system.

I'll go take a nap. Maybe someone can direct me to a solution. I've found
one on line, by clicking on "Attachments" in the Tbird preferences. I'm
supposed to see http and https listed as protocols, but they're not there...
nothing's there, and no easy way to add a protocol so that I could get the
damned thing working.

As always, any help will be appreciated.
