Firefox-62.0.2 not remembering login name and password

Prior to me doing this it would auto-log-me-in to "Puppy Linux Discussion Forum".

Perhaps try a password manager? Firefox's password manager is reckoned to be something of a joke at the best of times.....

I can thoroughly recommend LastPass. Been using it for years with no issues:-

.....and you can set it to auto-logon in the settings, if you want. (Or not, as the case might be.....)

Entirely your decision, of course.....but I'm guessing you'd rather fiddle about with the Preferences. Not being a regular Firefox user, I can't help you with that, so.....best to wait for some more 'suitable' replies, I'd say.

(I would think the question to ask, of course, is just what exactly did you change?)

You're correct in thinking that.
Reasons:
1.
a. Firefox-62.0.2 has been moved out of my slackosave file to reside under "/mnt/home".
AND...
b. I don't normally make a backup of either the whole of that partition [sda5] OR the "home" directory...
Aught I to do so?
Seems a lot of trouble to go to for something so small.
Therefore...
c. At present, [methinks] I wouldn't be able to restore to undo any changes made due to the installation of "lastpass" to "Firefox".
Whereas, any changes to preferences could be easily undone, provided I know which of those I'd changed.
At the moment I cannot see/remember any change I'd made that would account for this.
N.B. "Preferences->Privacy & Security->Forms & Passwords" Has "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites" greyed out [why?][and unticked, and I cannot re-tick], and in "Saved Logins", it has "Logins for the following sites are stored on your computer", and lists the address of the Puppy Forums and my username and password.

Hi Sylvander,

Firefox won't save your passwords when you've set it up to run in permanent private browsing mode ("never remember history" in the options > privacy panel).
Doing so will result in an un-selectable box.

Ah...right.

I did that for reasons of privacy.
I don't go to any dodgy sites [don't know which sites guests visit, but I load Banksy3 for them], but I don't like the idea of every snooping third-party tracking site knowing my every move.
Am I wrong to think this?
Semme helped me by moving Firefox out of my slackosave and into "/mnt/home", SO...
I guess the fact that I don't save session changes would no longer prevent->[pity about that] such stuff->[latest changes to browser history] being saved.
Any ideas?

Just been told I'm only 1 point below being type 2 diabetic.
I've never smoked.
Or taken drugs [unless prescribed].
Formerly drank alcohol a little [2 cans per week], but no longer, because I take hypertension medications, and have a stent fitted.
No longer have whisky and cream in my coffee.

My daughter gave me grief for eating [salty] olives [she has a degree in Biology->Immunology].

Getting old has its downside!

Plus there are upsides.

If only I could remember what they are.

I'll ask my wife, she'll know.
Oh yea, our mortgage is paid off, and I'm still physically able.
To do the gardening for example, and driving the car.
Don't fancy skydiving or rock climbing.
Now pay people to do the decorating, building and maintenance.
No longer fix the roof myself.
Or lay paths, or build fences, but I still "Creocoat" them.
And fork over the horse manure in the cubic-yard compost box.
And apply it as a mulch [no-dig system] around the borders.
No weeds in my garden.

All is well maintained, modernized and looking really good.
