How do I install & use a cursor .pet in Slacko? (Solved)

#1 Post by don922 »

I don't like the cursor in slacko-6.3.2. It is hard for me to see it and it seems a little too small.

I would like to load either of the following cursor theme pets;
cursor_themes-1-1 pet or Cursor_themes-1-Lucid. pet.

When I download them:

1) where do I install them?

2) how do I make them work (usable)?

I downloaded new cursors in puppy528-7_3HD but, it is designed to do this by including the Pcur program.

If you are using a .pet package I would expect them to be installed in the correct place automatically. If you want to verify, look in the hidden /root/.icons directory. The cursor (mouse pointer) changer can be found in the menu under Desktop > Puppy theme manager. You might need to scroll the window down to see it.

I discovered that slacko-6.3.2 did include Pcur. It was hidden away in:
Puppy Desktop Menu
JWM menu manager,
Add/remove apps from the main menu

I added Pcur and downloaded cursor_themes-1-1.pet. I have loaded a large white cursor and it seems to finish my cursor difficulty.

Later: I followed OscarTalks advice and he is correct that a cursor can be installed by using, "The cursor (mouse pointer) changer can be found in the menu under Desktop > Puppy theme manager."

I tried it and it works as good as Pcur.
