Re-uploaded wiagit version 0.0.2 since I had made a minor mistake... oops

Hope you are not the person who downloaded previous 0.0.2 Fred - best to wait a day maybe before committing to repos (just in case...)...

Typo? I thought you used 32-bit.

Yes, typo. Laughing

I wrote this after doing a post in Music2Go topic about testing the 64bit rt kernel Smithy created (at least it says x86_64 at boot).

deb package for wiagit 0.0.3 uploaded (includes wiagit-mini: wiagitm).

Changelog here:

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=1001241#1001241

I would be grateful if you could check if the Git_icon appears in the Dog Start->Development menu and on the wiagit application gui.

EDIT: Note that tcl/tk is installed as dependencies for gitk visualiser. The main wiagit/wiagitm programs don't themselves need that, so if you don't want tcl/tk included just remove gitk as a dependency (only the otherwise optional gitk visualiser button wouldn't do anything then of course).

Hi wiak, thanks, added wiagit 0.0.3 to repos.
The icon appears in the menu and also at the gui (top left)

New gtkwialog version 0.8.6 debs and details of changes here:

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=1001837#1001837

Didn't effect any apps I've tested previously, but as above link details document, FatDog's findnrun app had a problem with junk appearing in its initial input entry box (I discovered that it was caused by findnrun using uninitialised startup variable resulting in echo of empty string - legacy gtkdialog ignored empty strings for input, gtkwialog didn't but I added if statement so that it does now).

Gorgeous!! Cool Any plans to offer this remaster up to us poor, drooling, panting masses? Laughing

Although fairly "heavy", Cinnamon is a wonderful, full-featured and solid desktop.

+1 , would be nice if you share ISO, maybe as project with your own custom name or share here and I can put a link on first page.
Is it done with all changes in save storage or did you do a remaster ?

Fred

Hi d_vineet,

Continuing from Xenialdog64 thread here:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=1002515#1002515

Here's for testing, package SNS -simple network setup- by BarryK for BionicDog 64-bit
As the program is made specifically for Puppy, some options won't work, e.g. checkbox for starting firewall after successful connection doesn't apply.
Install from right-click menu of Pcmanfm > "Install deb"
The network_tray icon will show after restarting X.
I'd recommend to reboot after install (with changes saved), but for me it worked by running "Simple network setup" from Menu > Network (but sometimes needed to try two times until it connected from my tests).

To make things work properly, I modified some scripts, e.g. replaced "ifconfig" by "busybox ifconfig", because these scripts expect that ifconfig is a symlink to busybox (as it probably is on most Puppies).

Hopefully it works for you, indeed SNS is a nice program.
Works OK for me, except sometimes delay at shutdown (systemd message stopping service, taking more than a minute).

Hi fredx181,
Simply great work. Thanks.
Tested in BionicDog 64bit.
Everything works correctly as you said.
(I needed to rename "sns_2.2.3_amd64.deb.gz" to "sns_2.2.3_amd64.deb").
Otherwise no install option (of course) by right clk from PCManFM.
Xarchiver also didn't recognize it.
After renaming, everything worked as you said (by right clk).
Restarting X brought up tray icon.
wlan0 connected after 2 attempts.

Problem solved.
Thanks again for your valuable time & effort.
In fact, the support I received for puppy & dog s/w (in spite of being free & open source) is even better that that for other licensed s/w).

PostPosted: Tue 21 Aug 2018, 10:15    Post subject: MBR broken after frugal install (doesn't show WIn8)

Hi !
I had Win8 installed.
Already I had a separate logical partition (/ext4) for Bionic Dog 64bit.
Booted from USB stick (option selected was no save, only RAM).
Using BionicDog Installer, tried to frugal install.
Steps taken--
Selected .iso file (from /sda5 partition which ntfs).
Selected partition /sda6, (which is /ext4).
Clicked 'install'.
Chosen 'grub4dos'.
Installation successful.
Now, when rebooted, only Dog entries are there in bootloader, and not Win8 entry.

Tried boot-repair utility.
error msg--
FSCK detected. Please use Boot-Repair-Disk-64bit (www.sourceforge.net/p/boot-repair-cd) which contains a FSCK-compatible version of this software. This will enable this feature.
Second retry-- Msg says repaired successfully. Now you can rebbot the computer.
But no Win8 entry in bootloader.

Maybe I have done something stupid but don't know what Sad

Pl. help me fixing the MBR.
Thanks.

Ooops... yes the installer doesn't support dual boot with windows.
Although it's possible to add entry for Windows in grub4dos menu.lst.
(tell me if you want that, and I can help (or someone else)
My entry for Windows 10 is:
Code:
title Load BOOTMGR of Windows 10
root (hd0,0)
chainloader /bootmgr

Not sure if it's the same for Windows 8, I think it is.

If you want to restore the previous (windows) bootloader this may work:
At the end of the bootloader install from Bionicdog installer you may have seen message (see screenshot below)
In my case it was installing to sda2, for you sda6, so if sda6 is mounted for you as /mnt/sda6:
Code:
cat /mnt/sda6/sda.63s > /dev/sda

Hopefully that will restore, check first if you have a file "sda.63s" on sda6.
