Many thanks, foxpup. This should bring me further, al least give me decent menus. When trying to compile with it, the devx says something like "C cannot create executable". I'm guessing the build chain is broken. josejp2424 said something about this, even if his devx for his DPupBuster64 i...

@foxpup:
Good to know, foxpup. Downloaded rarsa's version. Thanks.
Problem is the devx is "no good" for the time being...
More on that later.

Building DPupBuster64 from Woof-CE

Hi all. I'm back at it after a "sabbatical" of 16 months. I put together a DPupBuster64 from the Woof-CE. It boots to desktop. Sound works. Browser is Firefox. But there were a few apps and files missing, as reported by Woof-CE report "ERROR-2CREATEPACKAGES". I managed to find so...

Hello Rainer.

I found it repetitive, but that would be the idea, wouldn't it?
Nice craftsmanship, though.

Well, that is the ultimate goal of computer science, AI, etc., isn't it?
1) make managers redundant (yan-han-han!!!)
and
2) automate management of humans (again: yan-han-han!!!)

I must say: I'm ok with #1, but NOT with #2!!!!

Hello EBored. For the record, CAINE is a distro, so cannot be incorporated in PuppyLinux. Personally, I find PuppyLinux very secure, if you make regular backups of your pupsave file. It's the only part of Puppy that could be tampered with, since you have a copy of your OS in an *.iso file. (edit beg...

Look, I'm willing to start to post on the new forum only but it won't serve any purpose if most posters/all posters do not follow. I don't think it's necessary to get all the post contents over to the new forum, a selected few stickies is what I would suggest. Start anew. The old site can always st...

Hi jplt3. The problem is lxterminal. It has its merits, but it filters out some stuff. It may not understand the ANSI color codes sent by less. May I suggest: go back to using urxvt as the terminal app. Change /usr/local/bin/defaultterminal to #!/bin/ash # type lxterminal >/dev/null 2>&1 &&a...

Hi, ZhouDunyi. I notice the "text language" box at the top of your screen capture is blank. I think you have to choose a language. If you click on the little arrow at the right of that box, you should have the choice of at least "English", IIRC. Click on it to choose and retry? O...

Yes. The dictionary and language packs you installed are data files. They
don't anything by themselves.
