Gnomemplayer and screen blanking
First of all, I am using Lupu 520 on my PC. I got tired of having the screen blank while a movie was playing so I got a PET package called "No Blank Screen" to compensate. But later, when browsing the files in Precision 5.7.1, I found a starting script for gnome mplayer called gnomemplayer...

I had a USB hard drive, Seagate 300gig that needed special software that would ask for a password and then the drive would appear. The drive was invisible till one used that software. There was one other option to format the drive that I used since I did not know the password. But I had to still jum...

When I use Update in Puppy Package manager, It has to convert the lists to Puppy format for display. And in selecting repositories, old versions of Puppy are included in the update process. So... Can the Update script be rewritten to allow for exclusion of some of the repositories? Having updates do...

That Compaq portable looks like one I have on the porch. But it has many parts missing and not repairable. The Osborne luggable portable with two floppies and no hard drive still boots from a 5.25 CPM OS disk though even though the keyboard needs some work. Closed, it looks like an old sewing machin...

In the early days, Apple sold a lot of computers due to the fact that they gave schools discounts on them and the students that used them then pushed their parents for a Apple computer. With the schools changing to chromebooks, it seems like that is going to hurt Apple's sales as the students will n...

I do not know what problems you are having getting Skype to work.
But I saw a solution to getting to work on Ubuntu for users running Proprietary Nvidia or AMD drivers.
I do not know if it would help, but the link is here.
The instructions are short on the fix. So it may be worth a try.

In writing something in C, sometimes one gets carried away in writing the code and fails to add sufficient comment sections to the code to explain what a section of the code is supposed to do. And later, without comments in the code, one may go back to code he/she has written and be at a loss as to ...

With the talk about linux Oses being free, I see that some are not. And even though Studio may have Puppy as the underlying base, could it be designed as an add on application that one could use on any version of Linux; not just Puppy. Designed as an app that could be used on any OS would help in ma...

I want to clarify my statement of GTK Youtube Viewer for Lucid not working. It works fine in Lupu 5.5 and up. But not with Lupu 520 on my PC. In my case, I have an old Compaq laptop with 156 megs of ram and a swap file. With the low memory, the swap file is used a lot! And with the frugal install of Wary, the pupsave file gets corrupted. Desktop icons disappear, applications that should run fail to do so, boot crashes, etc. Running Wary w...

My daughter bought a tablet with 8gigs of storage and when she went to get a game, the tablet showed a message of not enough storage space. So she went out and bought a 16gig sd card and although the tablet formatted it and it was shown, she still got that same message of not enough storage space. A...
