Testing in BionicPup32 now. It does not seem to have QuickPet (BionicPup64 does). Perhaps you mean installing Firefox from Menu>Internet>Get Web Browser ? I just did that and it downloads Firefox 74.0 as .sfs package and loads it. The icon is missing from the Menu entry, but sound in YouTube works, ...

You need to specify 64bit or 32bit as these 2 BionicPups are different. Do you have sound from other applications such as a media player (or other browser)? Firefox installed via Puppy Package Manager or QuickPet (in 64bit) ? What is the Firefox version? You can see what is in front of you, but we c...

Have you added many other packages besides the stuff for protonmail? What you need to be able to do is sort out all the files which are copies of the originals that you have added to the save-file in error and then remove those, leaving only the files which have been added. Remember that you have a ...

Are you comparing an md5 sum with a sha-256 sum? If so, you can not expect these to match. What you need to do if you want to verify integrity of the download is to take a reading of the md5 sum of your downloaded file and compare that with the md5 sum of the original as provided by the uploader and...

The provider operates the sip server and gives me a London geographical 020 prefix land-line number free of charge. I pay a charge for any outgoing calls to phone numbers anywhere and the prices are reasonable. With Linphone you can be on multiple sip servers so I can be contacted via free sip addre...

It has been a while since I did any Linphone compiling. I am still using my 3.8.4-106 builds in Dpup Wheezy and Slacko 5.7 and sometimes version 3.11.1 in Dpup Stretch. I use it as my main land-line phone so it is on almost all the time. The only bug I encountered in 3.11.1 is that the "Clear&q...

If you want to add video you should try Linphone. Uses SIP protocol so should be same as PSIP but also adds webcam video feed. Call alerts are both on-screen and audio ringtone provided the receiver has speakers on and sound set up. The packages I compiled are very small compared to some of the othe...

I remember taking a brief look at zoom in Dpup Stretch and when I came across the pulse audio issue I didn't continue with it as I don't have any need for zoom myself at the present time, so maybe someone else has looked deeper into it. Perhaps the segmentation fault will go away if you give it a wo...

The bit about pactl command not found is because zoom is looking for pulse audio and pulse audio can be a bit problematic to get installed and working.

Yeah, I haven't done any experimenting with Skype for quite some time and don't have any uploaded at the moment. The most recent version I have locally is 8.16.x which obviously is very outdated so no point offering that. Other packages (or instructions on how to adapt for Puppy) can be found if you...

The default tool for audio settings in Bionic64 is Retrovol which you access via the tray speaker icon or via Menu>Setup>ALSA sound Wizard>Adjust levels. The switches and faders which appear will depend to some extent on the computer hardware in each case, but you may need to look for capture levels...

First thing to remember is that you need to find the mic capture level in the audio mixer settings. Do not be confused with the mic fader in the playback settings.

Also, what type of mic is this, internal, jack plug, USB? Are we talking about 1 mic which you have tried in different computers?

Firewalls will need to be disabled or configured to allow incoming SIP connections, but I think you will find that PSIP (or other SIP softphones) can easily make calls from LAN IP to LAN IP without needing to connect out to WAN at all. Here I have PSIP in my Stretch Pup on LAN IP 192.168.0.10 receiv...
