not preoccupied with speculation but looking at different option with limited knowledge.
Enjoying puppy linux but still totally new to it.
Any ideas on why this wireless card can scan networks, get a bad IP and not connect even to an open network.
Cheers

Yes the switch is in the on position. I did have it working with Sabayon linux installed but the system was far to heavy for this laptop. Ran slow and had some issues but the wireless was functioning.

Toshiba Portege Wireless LAN problem
it recognises my internal wireless device as eth1. It allows me to scan and find network. when I setup my wep password and select use this profile it comes up dead. autodhcp and test eth1 both say unsuccessful. The thing is when I scan I find networks. Is this due to the listing as a eth instead of ...

One more thing
I had Freespire running on this computer using the same install method. Removing the harddrive putting the files on and reinstalling in the laptop. So I know it works with Linux.
I like teenpup and puppy in general far more than other linux distros.

Thanks
It directed me to run xorgwizard to reset the video and then I ran xwin and it came back. I have three teenage daughters here so unexpected shutdowns are common. Teenpup runs great and they really like using it. I am giving copies to all my friends and encouraging them to switch. Can not wait to see...

Okay fixed that created new issue
Okay so I discovered that if you do not set the time zone and the time a system crash hangs you up at the point I initially listed.
Now it hangs me up at
etc/rc.d/rc.local
it goes to prompt : #
So am I missing something here?
