That is great news that Compiz-Fusion can be run under Puppy 4.0! Thanks Tombh for WNOP. It works perfectly. (Well, it does after I ditched the old ATI card.)
And thanks to Barry who made it all possible.
All the best to the most supportive and fun Linux community on the planet!

Schweizer-Uhr one hour fast
MU, I really like your widget. Thanks for making it available. After the US changed to daylight savings time, S-U is one hour ahead. The Puppy clock is correct. TZ is PUP6. Any help would be appreciated. I shrunk relog so it is about the size of the trash can. After it starts, I move it to the botto...

Icons in background
MU, Another masterful piece of work! I see you are using e17. I wonder why they didn't use the e16 iconbox in e17. You have filled the gap nicely. I really like enlightenment, but it is a little quirky for day-to-day use so I use icewm. If it is possible, is there a way for the thumbnails to be behi...

Firefox crash with Flash9
Thanks for the suggestion. That seemed to do the trick. I have been using Firefox for a while to see how it went: it only crashes when I close the browser. Every time. Seamonkey doesn't do this. I wound up reverting to Flash7 with Firefox - just in case. If I need Flash9, I use Seamonkey. Th...

Firefox crash with Flash9
WhoDo, For some strange reason, Seamonkey works ok for me with Flash9 on Puppy 2.12. Playing with E17, I tried Firefox and, no surprise, it crashed. But E17 was kind enough to show me the error: "Environment Variable G_FILENAME_ENCODING is set and is not UTF-8". It also gave an error code ...

Very nice!
I apologize for not directly answering your question, but I use Tablaunch with the icons I want with the e16 dotpup. Or any WM for that matter.

No joy. Reinstalled kde pup. Rebooted. The directories are there, but the only files in /opt/kde/bin are kde355.dot, startkde and startkde2. I wonder if it a wierdness related to ntfs and union. Thanks. Shrdlu UPDATE: Works. :D Tried MKKDE. Had same problem. Then tried advice MU gave someone else in...

KDE Mini with 2.12
I had the same results as David with 2.12. I renamed MU's _211.sfs to _212.sfs. Made sure it was in /mnt/home. Installed prereq's. Also started with a clean install (frugal, NTFS - I had tried unsuccessfully to hack 1.XX usr_more.) When I booted I noticed that it mounted the kde stuff on /initrd/pup...

0.9.22 and ies4linux
0.9.22 didn't work for me. ies4linux (IE6) got broken. (I need to test web changes on IE6 and don't want to reboot.) While mucking around, I got a message similar to New Puppy Fan. IE6 crash said something about 9.22 not having "makeprefix" or something similar. Reverted to 9.17 and reinst...

Kethd, Mainboard is K7VME. My problem was USB seemed to conflict with onboard ethernet. I abandoned via-rhine driver and used ndiswrapper. Conflict went away and everything works. Sometimes MUT doesn't recognize my usb-drive, but that doesn't happen that often. I have a HD install but the conflict h...

via-rhine+soyo+1.07+2.6 kernel
I am a happy Puppy user on 2 out of 3 of my computers. :) Ironically, I can't get it to work reliably on a newer box I built when Tiger-direct basically was giving away SOYO mobos. The symptoms are wierd - with the 2.4 kernel, sometimes Puppy comes up and works great, but most of the time it hangs d...

Alex, Thanks to your input I found a helpful overview of how to setup HPLIP: http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/hplip_readme.html The overview had a very understandable schematic of how CUPS and the scanner backend are wired together. It looks like I would be ok having hpijs installed and then installi...
