Re: post subject
mikesir, any possibility that we could see your 9-step update as an "upgrade slimjet" script, that would be available in the user menu (like the palemoon upgrade)? (Have this script available when the slimjet.sfs file is loaded.) Great idea. But, unfortunately, beyond my paygrade. ...

I checked quickpet again, and clicked on Wine button... it IS an SFS file. I assumed that all the quickpet apps were pet files. Is there any way to tell, what they are (pet or sfs) without downloading? hi TJK, did i not put it in quickpet? if not, grab fatdogs wine here http://distro.ibiblio.org/fat...

I've been testing on both tahr-6.0.5_PAE.iso, and tahr-6.0.5_PAE.iso, found at: http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/puppy-tahr/iso/tahrpup%20-6.0-CE/ Sorry, it took so long to respond. (I've been busy) I wanted to test in many scenarios -- I tried on two different comps with TahrPup frugal install ...

Sorry, it took so long to respond. (I've been busy) I wanted to test in many scenarios -- I tried on two different comps with TahrPup frugal install and one TahrPup with pfix=ram. But still does not work. I thought it might have been a network/router issue, but then I was able to get PIA/Gpptp worki...

Thanks s243a, for all your suggestions. I've now spent hours and hours on this project -- way too much time. There's a few things that you suggested and one that I still want to try (installing with grub2 to /boot). I am able to install and run if virtualization/acceleration is off, but it is too sl...

I gave your remastered iso a try, but I still get the kernel panic error. I attached a scnshot of the setting that I used -- and I followed the specs you mentioned in your msg. Hmmm....I see you have a hard drive on your virtual machine. Is it empty. I have had corupted save files cause kernel pani...

There's been some recent discussion of installing Virtualbox in TahrPup, BUT I am wanting to know if anyone has installed Tahrpup in Virtualbox (or if it's possible)? Has anyone been able to install TahrPup in a recent version of Virtualbox? If so, how did you do it? OR Does anyone know if there is...

There's been some recent discussion of installing Virtualbox in TahrPup, BUT I am wanting to know if anyone has installed Tahrpup in Virtualbox (or if it's possible)? I have researched the topic and found no positive info on how to do it. Mostly I've found problems similar to what I've been having. ...

This is the most recent thread that I could find on setting up PIA in puppy... and I've used the tutorial in msg#1 to try and get PIA working. I first tried installing Gpptp v2 on TahrPup32, but could not get it working. Since it had a lot of additional packages I tried installing by starting TP in ...

It's been so long since I've done an upgrade... I've forgotten how to do it or if it's possible. (I hate the idea of a new install -- loosing all my custom installs and theme/color tweaks). I initially installed this version of Tahr64 with unetbootin on an ext USB drive, and it starts with Grub4Dos.

Has anyone used the PIA (VPN) install script?
I know that there is a Gpptp.pet and tutorial to set up Private Internet Access (PIA). And I have installed it about a year ago on 5.2.8. But that instalation lacks a lot. (You can't save username/password, and you can only install a ltd # of VPNs, and you have to run a terminal command each time). ...

Slimjet - Try getting it from here: https://www.copy.com/s/t%3AgF9dHT29oq4lolpc%3Bp%3A%252Fslimjet%3Boid%3A245 At the time I checked the above site there was no 64-bit version, but I downloaded and installed the Tahr version that was there, because I thought it should work anyway (I did uninstall m...

Have you tried the Login and Security Manager after installing the programs and doing a save and reboot? I tried installing Slimjet, but it complains about root issues... This is the best pup I've ever used! Well done!! It installed easily on my usb flashdrive with unetbootin, and all my addition apps installed without a hitch (x2go was even in the PPM). Within no time at all everything was working and it became my primary distro. I just have a bit of a problem getti...

mouse not working
I'd really like to try 6.0.3.9 beta, but I can't get the touchpad to work on my laptop. (I know my hardware is working fine.) I have tried the option available when the tahrpup window first opens: "if the mouse isn't working" -- but this feature doesn't work. I tried booting without xorg, ...
