ext3 drive failed fsck and won't mount.
umm, my drive shut itself off during a partition shrink/move operation. (it had taken it over 20 hours to do this operation) :( it is a 500gb SATA II drive and it used to have an ext3 partition filling it.. it was in a usb enclosure at the time. the e2fsck won't run with the default superblock, sayi...

the package installer...
the package manager in 4.12 does not seem to want to connect through a proxied connection. does anyone want to help me with this? i have a home proxy that is firewalled for security, but how do i tell the package manager to use it? thanks! oh, another thing... the update with a full install does not...

WPC54GS pcmcia not working
so, my friend has this card (linksys WPC54GS) that isn't recognized by puppy. does anyone have any help to offer? suggestions? it is a pcmcia card. it seems to get power, but is not recognized by the network wizard.

the battery life is interesting. on acer's website, they say that the linux version gets 1 hour more battery life versus the windows version. soo, if it isn't due to the os, then it must be the solid state drive in action. although i find that on my desktop it is frequently pegged under windows but ...

gparted not showing some of my partitions
as it says, gparted shows the disk as empty when there are actually 2 partitions on the disk(an ext2 and a swap) the ext2 mounts, but the swap won't. i don't know why. anyone having the same/similar problems? the swap is 5gb and the ext2 is 15gb.

thanks mikeb! i will definately do that. i suppose i will have to get an external disk drive (300gb+) so i am going to get a 500gb usb drive for $80 - $100 and use that as my main tool for copying. i shall switch my machine over to ext2 as soon as i get that other drive. @bruceb my computer is 400% ...
