Got wvdial/wmodem to work instead

Since I did not want to go back to the earlier kernel, I hacked around with wvdial to use wmodem on WM 6.1 (Verizon xv6700/HTC Apache that I upgraded). PupModem Dialup setup was a bit difficult to work around - no setting for /dev/ttyUSB0, so I had to delete ttyS2 and symlink that to ttyUSB0. I also...

Will new rndis modules work with kernel 2,6,25,16 in 4.1?

Also, to correct your tar backup syntax, the files to be tar'ed come AFTER the tar file name:

tar cvfz ~/orig-rndis-kernel_drivers_net_usb.tgz cdc_ether.ko usbnet.ko rndis_host.ko

And the "rm ether.ko ..." should be "rm cdc_ether.ko ..."

TIA,

Old News(gag)

See this 2006 Ubuntu forum thread (one of several):
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? ... ht=firefox

I did not see any mention. though, of the really funny wordplay: mis-fire(fox).

Look around the site, and enjoy - someone had way too much time on their hands...

Failure to detect/read USB flash drive on LIfebook P2046

I did see a message or 2 in /var/log/messages about a new USB disk, and the indicator light on the flash flashed, and that was about it. Both MUT and the default method for the "Drives" icon failed. I rebooted back to Puppy 3.01 on the same PC to check the flash, and it is working fine wit...

Missing ACX Wifi Module

One of the contributors to the Network Wizard has put that code in that puts up a message about WPA not being supported Yes, that was Dougal and me. Whether the Network Wizard should warn about modules not supporting WPA is up for discussion (I think it should), but the wag-profiles.sh script defin...

cypress_m8 Kernel Module Not Handling Earthmate LT-20 GPS

I have seen this problem with both 2.17 and 3.01 Puppy, but not 2.15 CE, so it appears that something similar to this regression noted on Ubuntu bug forum has occurred with this module:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/111694

Any plans to fix?
