ICPUG, that for a default setup as described in your lin'n'win the boot loader grldr and menu.lst must be on the root folder of the Windows XP partition is certainly true. Boot.ini is pointing there, and grldr is looking for menu.lst there. As you probably know this is not necessarily so. Have not d...

Psubok= enables psubdir to work from two levels deep, say puppy4/pup421. It only works for p421, for other series 4 [or 3] you would need to edit the init. In series 4, with a correct setup and only one pup_save in your 'psubdir' it should be used by default, and you should not get a choice of pup_s...

Dave, the purpose pf keeping all puppy files in a folder is to keep other puppies series two from colliding on root, or simply to keep things neat away from root as much as possible. Yes, I do have other p2 series on same partition, like p213, puppeez and cupup [217], teenpup [214], expand [215] and...

The frugal grub entry suggested by davesurrey should work if a/ all files are on root, and b/ the hd is ide For more info and other setups read my posts on page 5 etc. Both 214R and 214x work with the grub entries I posted, tested on three pcs. All frugal installs done manually, have not tested the ...

Kayan, well, not necessarily its own partition, but the files have to be on root. Teenpup [and p214] will not work from a folder. Psubdir was only implemented from p216 [and p214R]. There are ways around it if you must have it in a directory. Read about it here http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic...

Mike, sorry to hear you still get kernel panic. If you think your drive is not sata then try PMEDIA=idehd and replace each instance of sda by hda. Ensure you have 'idehd' on hda1. Whatever the problem you will still need a pup_save file. Try using a copy of your working 214R pup_save. Place it in the...

Re 'frugal install to a sub directory' - p214R already has the ability to boot from a subdir several levels deep [have not tested how many]. This is the only 2 series puppy with this ability. Other p2 versions needed pup_xxx.sfs on root, and later versions even pup_save on root [including p215ce]. V...
