zgp152, I have seen reports that the entire PIN thing can be disabled in the modem, under Windows, so that the PIN is not needed under Linux. Is that an option for your customer? Or do they need the security of PIN protection? Maybe there is a better way to implement the PIN issuance. I cannot get ...

How to reduce manual steps
This was remedied as I left PIN field empty. Rgds zgp152 Hi, Thanks for the help from rerwin and others! I have partial success in getting to web with Huawei E220. Now the access sequence sometimes works with pupdial, sometimes not. The latest finding is that the connection is cut off sometimes. Th...

Problem over (Forum reading as RSS feed no more fluent)
I have used to read Forum by creating RSS feed link to Firefox which is now release 3.0.11 (Windows XP/32). A few things that I find a bit irritant. 1) Currently, the RSS feed drop-down list shows all items with "already read" mini-icon even though I have not read all messages. It was not ...

Have you had a look inside your xorg.conf? If you can, /1/ boot without the pup_save.file, go through the set-up and choose your mouse type etc etc, then make sure the mouse is actually working. Next /2/ find your xorg.conf (the new one from this set-up) and have a look to see how the mouse part is...

SOLVED:mouse problem, pointer stuck after changing the mouse
I had display problem after changing the VDU. Now it is OK. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=43395 Thanks for help. After getting the VDU to work, the mouse pointer remains stuck. Only keyboard and VDU are working. I have tried with two mouses, of which one worked earlier while testi...

Blurred vdu screen: forcing Xvesa? SOLVED
Hi. I had configured a working Puppy system and took an old tower PC to a family who have very low requirements for computing. The 2fs was good and functioned well in my home, including many configuration goodies and additions. As I connected the VDU and the tower for the first time in the new locat...

Please elaborate, I wish to follow your "manual load" procedure. You added something to a script that runs each time you start Puppy?

Puppy 4.2.1 ?
Rerwin & co, I have tried to make 3G modem Huawei E220 work with 4.2.1. Maybe it was too early to combine these two? After a few PMs with rerwin I learned that "option was not loaded" and all listed four files are needed. The first pages of this thread were a bit inaccurate in stating ...

E220 not recognized
I have used pet v 10 and have run the modeswitch pet as well. I have uncommented the two device-specific lines (354 and 355) for Huawei devices as adviced in usb_modeswitch.conf and tried both alternatives of usb_modeswitch values (lines 358 and 359). Setup wizard detects only eth0 but no modem (tha...

Nooby deadlock
zgp152, Yes, I am automating the PupDial wireless dialup process, and think I have it done, other than handling individual problems with it. The downloads are in the first posting in this thread and should work with 4.2 when it comes out, as well as 4.1.x-standard. It is too late for me to request ...

What it comes down to is this: Puppy is a thinking man's (or woman) OS. It's for people who have passion in all areas of their life. It's for people who are creative and enjoy individualism. It's not for spectators.......though that degree of usability is obviously well on it's way. I wish to add: ...

Autodetection ofHuawei E220 coming to 4.2 ?
I see that E220 can be used to connect via Dialing function. I understand that Rerwin is developing autodetection to make it easier. Pls correct me if I am wrong. Good timing: I plan to take Huawei E220 into use in the near future. Is the Puppy 4.2 (now in beta) planned to include autodetection or w...

Link opens new browser instance
While I am pretty satisfied with Firepup, I feel that opening a link leads to a new browser session often while according to the controls that I have selected in preferences, it should add a tab. Please go through the tabs related control and experiment with a number of link locations to look for th...
